High-performance Tone and Playability

The formula for Charvel's Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 HSS HT M is simple yet explosive. Hot-rodded for full-throttle performance, this superb solidbody electric guitar rocks a curvaceous alder body with comfortable contours that will feel instantly familiar; it's outfitted with premium appointments such as a maple speed neck with graphite reinforcement and a silky-smooth compound-radius fingerboard with rolled edges and jumbo frets. A trio of Seymour Duncan pickups complete the setup, turning this guitar into a sonic flamethrower with amazing playability and an enormous tone arsenal that deploys everything from chimey cleans to blistering high gain. The Charvel Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 HSS HT M is a serious guitar for demanding guitarists.

Premium tone from Seymour Duncan pickups

You play the notes; Seymour Duncan pickups take it from there. A player favorite for decades, the JB humbucker is an ideal bridge pickup for blues, fusion, country, hard rock, thrash, punk, and grunge. The low end is full and beefy, and the highs are crisp and detailed. An upper-midrange bump adds chunk and crunch to heavy chords, which translates to a singing, vocal-like character when you solo — all while the hotter output pushes your amp just a bit harder for increased sustain and harmonics. For sonic contrast, a pair of Custom Flat Strat SSL-6 single-coil pickups deliver beautifully clear and articulate tones.

Maximize sonic aggression with the no-load tone control

On the Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 HSS HT M, the no-load tone control functions like a standard tone pot from positions one through nine and, for sonic transparency, removes itself from the circuit at position 10, letting the full natural voice of the instrument shine through. A common mod for guitarists looking for maximum tonal tenacity is to remove the tone control from the signal path completely — the no-load tone control on the Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 HSS HT M gives you the best of both worlds.

The Pro-Mod story

Charvel's Pro-Mod series guitars rock classic Charvel style, born in Southern California more than three decades ago. These axes are packed with the hot-rodded, high-performance features artists rely on: classic body styles, premium tonewoods, fast necks, smooth, rolled fingerboard edges, scorching pickups, rock-solid bridges, and more. Take it from the guitar aficionados at Sweetwater: Get your hands on a Pro-Mod, and you won't let go.

Pearly Charvel

Really nice hss in this price point. It'll strat and rock as well, glad to finally get this pickup configuration with a hard tail. A special shout out to our sales engineer, Chris Shura, for always going above and beyond to assist us with all of our gear needs. Thanks Chris!!

Owned for about a year now

It's good. The action gets low with no uncontrollable buzzing the finish is great. The only thing I don't like is aesthetic, The way the maple neck meets the maple fretboard the wood coloring is quite different but that's really not a big deal. The fit and finish on this guitar is better than a usa fender, that might upset some people but it's true. I highly doubt there's any guitar on the market for a thousand dollars Is that can beat the quality of this one. Don't sleep on it.

Great guitar

I've had all sorts of guitars over my 60+ years of playing, both more expensive and cheaper than this Charvel. This is one of the better ones I've owned as to sound, playability, and especially features. Rolled fingerboard, locking tuners, Graphtech nut, Duncan pickups. I've had this guitar for about 6 months and couldn't be happier. Took it to my luthier for setup, and he was also impressed. Didn't have to do much to it. I don't find the single coil noise to be any worse than my strats. I would buy it again.

Good but not Perfect

Have had this guitar for a few weeks now. Overall, it's a good guitar. The Seymour pickups sound great and the body and neck are comfortable for playing. The natural sustain is very good. The frets are well polished.

The biggest issue that I've noticed is that the cavities don't appear to be adequately shielded so there is a lot of hum from the single coil pickups, even on clean amp settings. I have a MIM Strat with single coil pickups that is nowhere near as noisy as this guitar. Also, because the neck, middle, and split bridge pickups are not balanced in terms of output, neck/middle and middle/split bridge pickup positions are not quiet. The bridge humbucker, at least, is quiet.

Some other issues that I've encountered are that there are parts of the neck that are a little rough and that there is already a little fret sprout from the drier environment where I live.

Good luck and keep rocking.
