High-performance Tone and Playability. Killer Looks.

The formula for Charvel's Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 HH FR QM is simple. Hot-rodded for full-throttle performance, this superb solidbody electric guitar rocks a curvaceous alder body with an eye-popping quilt maple top and comfortable contours that will feel instantly familiar. It's outfitted with premium appointments such as a maple speed neck with graphite reinforcement and a silky-smooth compound-radius maple fingerboard with rolled edges and jumbo frets. For ultra-stable pitch expression, this San Dimas features a Floyd Rose double-locking vibrato bridge system that lets you flutter, warble, and dive-bomb with impunity. Two hot Seymour Duncan humbuckers with coil splits complete the setup, turning this guitar into a music flamethrower with amazing playability and an enormous tone arsenal that deploys everything from chimey cleans to blistering high gain. Suitable for any music genre, the Charvel Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 HH FR QM is a serious guitar for serious guitarists.

Take-no-prisoners tone from Seymour Duncan humbuckers

You play the notes; Seymour Duncan humbuckers take it from there. A '59 SH-1N humbucker is located in the neck position of this axe, while a JB TB-4 is positioned at the bridge. The '59 has a full low end, slightly scooped mids, and gently boosted highs; it preserves the clarity of the individual notes in a chord, making it ideal for rhythm work as well as jazz and blues soloing. Duncan's most popular pickup, the JB, is an ideal bridge pickup for blues, fusion, country, hard rock, thrash, punk, and grunge. The low end is full and beefy, and the highs are crisp and detailed. An upper-midrange bump adds chunk and crunch to heavy chords, which translates to a singing, vocal-like character when you solo — all while the hotter output pushes your amp just a bit harder for increased sustain and harmonics.

A palette of single-coil tones on tap

The classic '59/JB pickup combination is perennially favored by pro guitarists. On the Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 HH FR QM, you mix this potent sonic elixir through a 3-way blade switch and a volume pot with push-pull coil splitting, which puts a range of spanky single-coil tones into play. The no-load tone control functions like a standard tone pot from positions one through nine and, for sonic transparency, removes itself from the circuit at position 10, letting the full natural voice of the instrument shine through. The Charvel Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 HH FR QM serves up tone by the truckload. If your music has an aggressive edge to it, you'll want in on this.

The Pro-Mod story

Charvel's Pro-Mod series guitars rock classic Charvel style, born in Southern California more than three decades ago. These axes are packed with the hot-rodded, high-performance features artists rely on: classic body styles, premium tonewoods, unfinished oiled necks, smooth, rolled fingerboard edges, scorching pickups, rock-solid bridges, and more. Take it from the guitar aficionados at Sweetwater: get your hands on a Pro-Mod, and you won't let go.

Charvel Excellence

I own quite a few guitars including Gibsons and Fenders. This was my first super Strat type of guitar with a Floyd Rose. This guitar has become my daily player that I favor for playability and sound. It can sound like a Strat with single coils or a Gibson style with beefy humbuckers. Very versatile. I record using this guitar on a regular basis. Once you learn how to adjust and setup the bridge for your personal tastes, this guitar is spot on. I ended up putting a tremolo stopper in mine so I didn't have to deal with the bridge floating. Pound for pound, this the best guitar that I have ever owned.

This Charvel is Perfection!

I have been eye balling Charvel for quite sometime now. Huge EVH fan and this is kind of as well as similar to what he would play. This is the best guitar I bought brand new for sure. 6 really great sounds and the overall feel is really easy to fall in love with. After only playing for 4 hours now... Its definitely 1 more arm on my body. It speaks great and what you want it to speak.. From Heavy Dirty Riff's and Soloing, to melodic soft rhythm.

And Sweetwater is badass. Thank you for all you did for me and getting me this guitar in the perfect shape and playability that I wanted. Huge Shout Out to Matt Christopherson... Sweetwater's best and friendliest sales person. Dude feels like a friend I never knew.

Versatile Superstrat

Superstrats ignited the guitar arms race in the late 1970's, and they are still my weapon of choice. There are so many things to like about this guitar. I purchased it in 6/21 and it is still playing perfectly. I did add titanium bridge pieces and a big block 73mm brass sustain block for the trem, but everything else is stock. The 3-way blade switch and pull pot give you 6 pickup configurations together with the detented tone knob give nearly unlimited combinations. As far as looks are concerned, just look at it! I play it nearly every day and it's 2 1/2 years old now. I'm not sure if this review helps anyone, but I am very satisfied with this guitar and do not regret purchasing it for even a second.

Impressed!!

My first Charvel. The quality and build of this guitar is very solid. First things first, the neck. This is a smooth and comfortable playing neck with great frets. Low action with no buzz and bends are smooth and fast. I really love this neck. The Floyd is also very solid and strings are staying in tune thru absurd and abusive playing. This guitar out performs my hss player series strat, which is also a great guitar in its own right. Next, the sound, tones range from dirty nasty raunchy to a tele/strat or Les Paul style clean with the pull pot. Covers so much ground for an HH set up. This guitar is so impressive that I ordered the white hss fr version too. The playability of this neck has a fluid/liquid like feel, and as a Gibson player for most of my years I am really gravitating towards bolt on necks as I feel like they are stronger and more stable and built to withstand more abuse. It's a great overall instrument for shred to blues and rock and will cover metal styles or any music really. If you like superstrats with a more tradition look and feel but with a faster neck and jumbo frets then this axe is worth a test drive at the least.
