Free Yourself From Cumbersome Analog Snakes!

Bridge the gap between your band, FOH engineer, and audience with the ultra-fast, rock-solid Behringer SD16 16-channel digital snake system. With the SD16, you get 16 remote-controllable Midas-designed preamps and 8 analog, servo-balanced XLR returns at the stage end, and it's all piped through a single, convenient Cat 5e cable, thanks to integrated SuperMac technology from Klark Teknik. In other words: no more bulky analog snake! So step up to the digital age - order your Behringer SD16 16-channel digital snake system from Sweetwater today!

AES50 networking capability provides compatibility with many digital mixers

When Behringer first developed their SD16 digital snake system, they intended it to go hand-in-hand with their powerful X32 digital mixing system. But limiting such a convenient and affordable digital snake to the X32 alone would have been a shame, which is why Behringer designed it around the strict guidelines established by Klark Teknik. The result is an affordable digital snake that's completely compatible with any digital console that sports an AES50 digital Ethernet connection. So if you're running a Midas or Behringer digital mixing board, if it's got an AES50 Ethernet port on it, if you've got an SD8 digital snake, you're never more than a single connection away from your stage box.

Remote-controllable preamps make setup fast, easy, and painless

Even if you try to get a jog in every day, no one likes having to run up to the stage every time you have to make an adjustment to your stage box. Thanks to the Behringer SD16 digital snake system's remote-controllable preamp design, those back-and-forth cross-venue dashes are a thing of the past. Using the Klark Teknik SuperMAC protocol, your SD16 will show up in your digital mixer's OS, giving you the control you need over your pres, right from the front of house position. And by the way, these preamps are the exact same high-quality Midas-designed preamps found in the X32 console, so you know you're getting quality sound with low noise and tons of headroom.

Total integration with Behringer's P-16 personal monitoring system

Streamlined, affordable, and super-easy-to-use, everyone's raving about Behringer's Powerplay P16 personal monitoring systems. When you add a Behringer SD16 digital snake system to your PA rig, you're not just getting a great set of remote-controllable preamps and ditching tons of bulky cable, you're ready to add an advanced personal monitoring system directly inline with the rig you already have. That's because your SD16 digital snake comes equipped with Ultranet connectivity, which provides your Powerplay P16-M monitor controllers with a digital split straight from the stage box.

Behringer SD16 Digital Snake System Features:
  • 16 x fully programmable and remote-controllable Midas-designed mic preamps give you exceptional sound, right from the stage
  • 8 x analog, servo-balanced XLR outputs let you send complete monitor mixes to the stage

Great tool for clean setups

This can significantly speed up your setup and tear down. We use this for our mobile church and it's been working our great. The routing in the x32 is a bit tricky, but once you have it down it's great!

Simple and easy to use

Bought the SD16 from Charlie along with the 164 foot cat 5 cable and was basically plug it in and turn it on. Extremely clean, zero noise or delay.

More than I expected

Installation was painless. I thought I would be messing with menus and dip switches for hours. I just plugged the AES50 cable into my X32 rack and I was off to the races. I was also under the impression I would only be able to record 16 channels at once, either 16 from the SD16 or 16 from the X32 rack. Not sure where I read that but that was NOT the case. I was happy to be able to record all 32 channels to my PC over the AES50 + USB interfaces with no apparent problems.
Music background: Jam, electronica.

One of the Best investments we made

I'm the tech director/sound engineer for our church. We recently upgraded our sound system to the X32 and If you have an X32 this is almost a must have. I say almost because everyone has different needs but if your having to run a long analog snake this is a great investment. Our board is about 75 to 80ft away and upstairs and this is a lot better than running a snake all that way. It also works great for us because we also use the PM16s and we only needed four ports, we can run all of them through the SD16 with no need for the distribution unit plus it supplies the power for them.

I liked it so much I bought an SD8 for my studio. I just have a small studio with two recording rooms. I just installed a network cable into each room then I can move this from room to room depending on what I'm recording. Its super easy to set up and sounds great.
Music background: Drummer for over 40 years (at the same church.)
