A No-nonsense Guitar for Performance-loving Players

The player-centric Ibanez S520AH marries the svelte, bladed S-series shape with the comfort of a Wizard III neck and the versatility of an Edge Zero II tremolo, creating an ultra-light shredding machine you won’t want to put down. A set of Quantum humbuckers offers a smooth, responsive tone with sufficient firepower to drive any amp to the edge of breakup and beyond. At the same time, a 5-way selector switch creates a range of tonal variations, combining the humbuckers in unique ways to facilitate creative experimentation. With its beautifully finished ash body, iconic S-series shape, and versatile features, the S520AH is ripe for any player seeking an ideal merger of practicality and performance.

A blend of celebrated designs

When you pick up an S520AH, you’ll understand its popularity within the Sweetwater guitar community. Combining playability and performance, the S520AH reinvigorates the iconic S shape, featuring bladed edges and an ultra-thin body that maintain a classic look while adding a sleek new feel. The aggressively thin profile sits close to the body, reducing shoulder strain with its negligible weight and offering a comfortable position for your picking hand. Sporting the beloved Wizard III neck, built from maple with a rosewood fretboard, the S520AH is a shredder’s paradise, embodying the playability and comfort that made Ibanez a household name.

Versatile high-output tone

At the heart of the S520AH are a pair of Quantum humbuckers, delivering high-output power with a warm character and pronounced midrange to keep your tone grounded. Connected to a 5-way selector switch, these versatile pickups unlock a range of coil combinations, allowing this metal-leaning axe to explore everything from delicate melodies to nuanced dynamics. But crank the volume, and the passive Quantum pickups unleash signature Ibanez bite — searing, articulate, and primed for high-gain clarity.

Stable tuning, zero compromise

Whether you're blazing through scalar runs or powering through a high-gain riff, the S520AH is primed to keep up. Plus, with its low-action, stable Edge Zero II tremolo system, you can dish out all the dive-bombs and warbling snarls you desire, without the tuning pitfalls that often accompany them. Additionally, the Edge Zero II’s lower profile improves playing comfort, making the already versatile design even more appealing.

Ibanez S520AH Features:

  • Sleek, lightweight electric guitar with an iconic S-series design
  • Wizard III maple neck with rosewood fretboard embodies playability and comfort
  • Quantum humbuckers offer a smooth, responsive feel with high-output tone
  • 5-way selector switch offers tonal variety for creative experimentation
  • Low-action Edge Zero II tremolo system keeps tuning stable and your fingers nimble

Reviews

Excellent Value
I've been playing 25 years but always Fenders / Gibsons. I've always eyed S series models and decided to make the jump with this one as my first locking trem guitar. It came well set up and plays beautifully. The finish and shape make it very eye catching as well - it's so thin! The neck is super comfortable, as well. The biggest grip I've heard about the components on this is that the pickups are inadequate but I haven't felt that at all. I'm getting crisp highs and good lows, and the 5 way switch makes it quite versatile. Overall this is money well spent and an excellent value guitar given the features, looks and feels.
WOW!!
Just opened my brand new Ibanez last night. I was too tired to play it. But..... this thing is crazy cool looking. I didn't even notice that it was actually a green color. Love at first sight is what I am saying. Beautiful wood grain, super sleek neck, and the locking trem look so cool. So, I know I am going to love this guitar. I will update the review later

OMG It is More than I Expected
This Guitar is what I'm looking for ... the Slim Neck and the Finish and the total Design is So beautiful .. Frets works are well Done The pickups Out is Very high gain it also Sound nice in Clean Mode and Distortion it is a bit Dark But the Sound is great in General . if there is More than 5 Stars I would Give to this Guitar .
Gorgeous, feather-weight
Is it wrong to buy a guitar based on looks? I had been idly shopping for a more "metal" guitar to supplement my 30-yr-old Tele when the Ibanez S520AH popped up. That blue-stained woodgrain, I couldn't get it out of my head...

Just as nice-looking in person as it was in the photos, I particularly love the white bindings, they set off the wood stain and the black satin of the hardware perfectly.

The guitar is incredibly light (at least to me, much lighter than my Tele), the neck feels pretty uniform in thickness/radius across. A couple frets are maybe sharper on the edges than I'd like but nothing I'll end up trying to have addressed. The action out-of-the-box is a little higher than I'd like but should be easy enough to adjust.

I took off half-a-star for pickup output. NOT a deal-breaker by any means, I'm happy with the guitar and would buy it again without hesitation. But I was a little surprised to plug the Tele (with a Seymour Duncan 59 at the bridge) into the same amp and find that it was much louder than the stock Ibanez pickups.
