Powerful, Tight Bass for Surround and Immersive-format Mixing
Need a world-class subwoofer for surround and immersive-format mixing? Sweetwater has a recommendation. Designed by Grammy-winning engineer/producer and iconic studio owner Allen Sides, the Ocean Way Audio S212A subwoofer represents the state of the art in low-frequency sound reproduction for recording studios, cinemas, and other applications where powerful, tight bass enhances your listening experience. Providing fast, articulate low end down to 22Hz at sound pressure levels of up to 119.5dB, the S212A is equally adept at reinforcing deep bass in music monitoring systems as well as delivering the weapons-grade bottom end required of premier commercial theater installations and motion picture mix stages. Despite its impressive low-end extension — which can result in ponderous performance in lesser designs — the S212A renders bass instruments, kick drums, and cinematic LFE channel content with shocking speed and detail.

Adapts to any monitoring configuration
From modest 2.1 stereo mix setups to complex immersive-format configurations, the S212A subwoofer adapts to the monitoring requirements of both small music studios and the ever-changing needs of large audio post-production facilities. Featuring two 12-inch aluminum cone drivers in a rigid acoustic-suspension enclosure driven by a separate 2,400-watt rackmount amplifier, the Ocean Way Audio S212A is designed to integrate seamlessly into any music monitoring or multichannel theatrical system. For flexible installation, the Ocean Way Audio A-2500 amplifier offers digital inputs as well as stereo analog inputs and outputs. The amp can power two S212A subwoofers, offering a scalable solution as well as placement versatility. Parameter adjustments include gain, LF and crossover adjustments, and variable delay so that you can perfectly integrate it into any audio setup.
Ocean Way: a legacy of unerring sonic quality
In 1976, Grammy-winning recording engineer/producer Allen Sides started leasing the former United Western Studios in Hollywood, Calif., originally built in 1952 by legendary engineer/audio designer Bill Putnam. In 1988, he purchased the property and changed the name to Ocean Way Recording, and he also added Record One in Sherman Oaks to the Ocean Way family. In 1997, he opened Ocean Way Nashville on Music Row. Over the years, Sides personally worked on over 1,000 albums by top artists like Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Phil Collins, and Alanis Morissette; and it is estimated that albums recorded in Mr. Sides’s studios have sold in excess of one billion copies. Housed in a 16,000-square-foot beachfront villa at the exclusive Eden Rock Resort on the Caribbean island paradise of Saint Barthélemy, Ocean Way St. Barths was created to provide the ultimate creative environment for this level of clientele.
Mr. Sides, who had been building audiophile speakers since he was a teenager, designed the unerringly accurate monitors used in all his control rooms and provided custom designs for many of his clients’ studios. The Ocean Way brand had become synonymous with uncompromising sonic quality, and Ocean Way Audio was the next logical step, enabling studios of all sizes to avail themselves of this remarkable technology. Sweetwater is proud to offer you this distinguished line of professional products.
