Eight plies of mahogany and eight plies of maple come together with 30-degree bearing edges and 2.5mm triple-flanged hoops to create an incredibly versatile drum that will serve you well in seemingly any genre. Depending on your preferred tuning, Sweetwater drummers have found this snare to be quite versatile: you can tune it for more of bright, piercing attack or adjust it to emit a fatter and darker backbeat. Also, if you prefer tone that leverages a bit of both, this Gretsch mahogany/maple snare drum is up to the task. You'll also have tons of articulation on account of the Tilco snare wires, which are operated by Gretsch's newly designed full-range throw off and butt plate.
