A Classic Rock Machine — Revamped Reverend’s Way

The Reverend Roundhouse marks a beguiled take on the iconic original dual-humbucker electric guitar. Leveraging premium tonewoods, high-end appointments, and custom features, the Roundhouse blazes new player-friendly trails for this familiar design. The Roundhouse body’s korina tonewoods serve up a harmonically rich tone reminiscent of mahogany (while discarding much of mahogany’s cumbersome back-breaking weight). Korina is then fitted with a carved maple top that ensures flavorful treble with a snappy attack that energizes solos and riffs. Reverend’s luthiers made significant enhancements for today’s players, including an offset body shape for increased access to upper frets. You’ll instantly feel at home navigating a rosewood fingerboard and the Roundhouse’s 24.75-inch scale length, which keeps strings pliable and responsive. Pivoting to pickups, two proprietary Reverend HA5 humbuckers onboard supply modern versatility and a hot-rodded take on classic humbucker essentials. HA5 pickups serve up instant snarl when plugged into a high-gain amp but will also quickly clean up for warmer styles such as jazz. Lastly, a built-in treble bleed circuit and a bass contour control further expand the Roundhouse’s sonic range. You won’t lose important highs when rolling back levels, and the bass contour knob can easily coax out convincing single-coil tones in seconds. With a feature set this irresistible, it’s no wonder that the Reverend Roundhouse is one of Sweetwater’s favorite combinations of classic inspiration and next-gen design.

Top-shelf tonewoods, top-drawer components

As do all Reverend guitars and basses, the Roundhouse comprises only the finest tonewoods and components — materials you expect to find on boutique, custom-shop instruments costing considerably more. From its ultra-stable 3-piece korina neck to its proprietary pickups, this guitar is designed from the ground up for high performance. Even the parts you don’t see are top drawer, such as premium 10% control pots and polyester capacitors, the robust Pure Tone Technologies jack, and a treble bleed circuit that preserves high end when you roll back the volume control. Reverend uses high-grade korina (white limba) — coveted for its consistency and harmonic richness — for guitar and bass bodies. Korina is a highly resonant tonewood, a quality that is further enhanced by the instrument’s amazingly powerful electronics package.

Powerful electronics package

This Reverend Roundhouse is loaded with a powerful and versatile passive electronics package that includes two proprietary custom HA5 humbuckers. While the neck pickup is wound to vintage specs for gorgeously warm and chimey chord work, Reverend winds the bridge pickup hotter for extra punch, so your high-gain solos plow right through the track. Both pickups deliver excellent clarity to maintain individual note articulation within overdriven chords. Also onboard is Reverend’s fantastically useful Bass Contour control, which lets you quickly tighten up the low end and revoice the pickups to sound more like vintage single-coils. However, since HA5 pickups are one-hundred percent humbuckers, you can deploy those single-coil tones without any single-coil hum whatsoever.

Reverend Guitars: expertly crafted and designed with the player in mind

From humble beginnings working out of a Detroit-area garage to worldwide praise and presence on the globe’s biggest stages, Reverend Guitars has solidified its place as a reliable source of exquisite guitars and basses. The brainchild of designer and luthier Joe Naylor, Reverend instruments are found accompanying many of today’s most influential players, including Billy Corgan, Reeves Gabrels, Meshell Ndegeocello, Matt West, and many others. Now based in Toledo, Ohio, Reverend’s firm commitment to quality and exceptional tone is found in every instrument, each donning custom-shop components to deliver the purest sound possible. Reviews

Took a chance and happy I did.
I was not able to find one of these locally to handle before purchasing, but I am sure glad that didn't stop me. I have been playing both Strats and LP style guitars for many years, and both have their qualities that suit me for different playing styles. The best way I can describe this guitar is like a blend of the best parts of each of my go-to guitars.
