Heritage '60s Looks and Hearty Ampeg Bass Tones — to Go!

The 500-watt Rocket Bass RB-210 bass combo delivers classic good looks and timeless Ampeg tones to players on the move. Fans of the 1960s Rocket series of Ampeg amplifiers will especially groove on the RB-210's black diamond wrap and signature sparkle grille cloth. Of course, bassists of all stripes will enjoy taking the renowned Ampeg punch and growl to go with this easy-traveling solution. The Rocket Bass's Legacy preamp, 3-band EQ, Ultra Lo/Hi tone switches, and specially voiced ported Eminence speakers make it ridiculously easy to achieve monumental bass tones with any instrument in your arsenal. And thanks to a pair of 0dB and -15dB instrument inputs right on the front panel, the RB-210 has no trouble adjusting to hot-wound active humbuckers or passive vintage single-coils. When you're ready to add some grit to rhythms and sustain to leads, the Rocket Bass's SGT (Super Grit Technology) controls dial in a smooth-to-gnarled overdrive that manages to keep fundamentals full while packing on the heat. You'll even find an 1/8-inch aux input and an 1/8-inch headphone output to facilitate silent practice, whether you're jamming along to tracks at home or warming up in the green room pre-show.

The Rocket Bass RB-210 is a well-rounded road performer and studio companion. Its 500 watts, twin 10-inch ported Eminence speakers, and defeatable high-frequency horn give you mammoth output and versatility onstage. This combo's effects loop provides additional options for inserting compression pedals and rack effects into your signal, and its footswitchable SGT switch effectively gives you a second channel for live use — great for alternating between rhythm and lead duties. The RB-210 also features a post-EQ/-volume/-loop XLR balanced output to capture the essence of your stage tone when going straight into a mixer or recording interface, as well as an external speaker output (8-ohm minimum) for times when you really need to move some air.

Portable size, potent tone

A Legacy preamp and 3-band Ampeg tone stack give the Rocket Bass RB-210 bass combo the punch, power, and growl that Ampeg amps are known for. Specially voiced 10-inch Eminence speakers, paired with a defeatable high-frequency horn, succeed in delivering the goods for practice, tracking, and travel. You also get Ultra Lo and Ultra Hi switches derived from Ampeg's SVT series of bass amps to help enhance your bass and treble registers. Need a meatier tone? The Rocket Bass's SGT controls dial up the heat in a hurry. No matter what style of music you play, there are buckets of big-sounding tones waiting to be discovered in the Ampeg RB-210.

Vintage 1960s Ampeg visuals

Ampeg holds claim to some of the most recorded and toured-with bass amplifiers of all time. The Rocket Bass RB-210 combo amp looks back to Rocket amplifiers of the 1960s for its Atomic Age visual cues while focusing forward to bring in-demand bass features to a lightweight design. Whether you're just starting out or you're a van-seasoned veteran, bass players at Sweetwater agree: there's loads to love about the Ampeg Rocket Bass RB-210 bass combo.

The RB-210 steps up from the RB-115 with a pair of custom 10-inch Eminence speakers and a defeatable high-frequency horn.

Reviews

Can't have 1 ,without the other

I had the pf 20 and 115 he cab. Sold the 20 . Kept the cab but all I had was a rumble 25. At Christmas I purchased the RB 210 for $ new with a added Sweetwater Christmas bonus. Sweet. As far as a RB 210 isn't good for Reggae, get a f 115 he. Heavier than the 210 but worth every ounce. 500 watts

Finally...the tone I was seeking
This Ampeg 210 SGT is just what I needed. It provides me perfect tone onstage as my monitor, and the DI out to the PA sends the exact sound and tone I hear onstage. I absolutely love this Amp. Thank you to Delvin Wolf on the sales team, and to all of Sweetwater. I ordered it on a Monday, and received it on Tues. It doesn't get any better than that. My cat loves it too

Great build quality on this amp, with some quirks...
Overall this amp is great. The build quality is fantastic and in my opinion better than the Rumble 500 2x10 combo. It is a solid, well built amp. The sound quality is great as well. It handles my 5 string great with no rattles or speaker overload. There are a few quirks about the amp that I have learned to live with. The quirks are as follows:

- No gain knob. You have to turn the amp up to around the 11 o'clock position to get real volume out of the amp. Not a big deal though. The amp gets really loud.

- The horn has a noticeable hiss when switched on. You can't hear it during a gig, but at home it's very noticeable. I usually leave it off due to the fact that it really doesn't add much to the sound of the amp when gigging.

- There is a noticeable white noise that emanates from the speakers. The main culprit is the treble knob, but it also increases in volume as you turn the volume knob up. Again it's not a problem during a gig, but for home practice, it drives me crazy.

In summation, this is a very nice amp that sounds great and is built well, but be aware that yours may have these issues. For me it's not a big deal and I can live with these minor issues.

The One I was Looking For
The Ampeg rocket bass 210 is just the amp combo I was looking for. If you are one of those people unsure of what amp combo or head/cabinet to purchase to do all that it needs to do to get that great bass guitar sound at a reasonable price, I truly recommend this ampeg 210. Prior to my purchase, I had heard various people tell me how problematic this amp is...but I tell you what, I am truly happy I purchased it...no problems whatsoever. Whether you are playing at a small or mid-sized venue, this amp is all you need (haven't played at a large venue as of yet...I consider a large venue to be that of a football field-sized event or greater).

At church, I use this amp together with my Fender American Precision bass guitar and the amp sounds great just by itself. I turn the volume knob 1/2 way and the natural low frequencies are incredible and fill the church nicely...have received so many compliments on the sound.

At a recent gig at an outside venue, I connected the amp to a markbass traveler cabinet having a 1 x 15 subwoofer (for stage presence), connected the balanced XLR output to the PA, and the sound was just incredible...the low frequency thump sounded great, both on-stage and out in the crowd, allowing me to play/experiment with new bass riffs solidifying our band's performance...so many compliments on the bass sound.

I had been hesitating to write this review, but something came over me and made me do so with the intent of hopefully helping others out, others who are unsure of what bass amp to purchase with cost efficiency & effectiveness in mind. Hope this helps out.

I can dial in a multitude of tones with this amplifier, can swing from warm, low and heavy to punchy and clicky... Beyond delighted with it
