Pro-level Features at an Amazing Price

Looking to really up your bass game? The Sterling by Music Man StingRay RAY34 is up to the task. This road-ready axe features a gorgeous spalted maple top, comfortably contoured nyatoh body, curved armrest, and much-appreciated belly cut. The body is bolted to a super-comfortable roasted maple neck with 21 frets. From there, Sterling loads in a Music Man-designed alnico humbucking pickup for a deep, powerful tone that punches through the mix. The StingRay RAY34 also comes equipped with a 9-volt active preamp with a 3-band EQ for tone shaping. Whether you’re looking for a new touring axe, or a dependable companion for the studio, the Sterling by Music Man StingRay RAY34 is an excellent choice.

Music Man-designed pickup and onboard EQ

The StingRay RAY34’s body is loaded with a single alnico humbucker. Designed by the bass experts at Music Man, this pickup certainly delivers all the thump and growl you want. It also has an alnico magnet for a vintage-tinged tone. An active 9-volt preamp and a built-in EQ are also onboard. As you’re playing, use the master volume and the 3-band EQ to sculpt your tone before it hits your pedalboard and amp.

Fluid playability up and down the neck

Ask Sweetwater bassists and they'll tell you that one of their favorite things about the StingRay RAY34 is its roasted maple neck. Roasting is a process that entails wood being seasoned with high temperatures to release excess moisture, meaning the neck physically weighs less. For the player, this means you experience far less neck dive than you would compared to a standard maple neck. Beyond that, roasted maple is extremely stable and resistant to warping caused by temperature and humidity. With the RAY34’s roasted maple neck, you’ll enjoy smooth, dependable playability — no matter where you’re traveling.

To add to the pot, Sterling also mixes in a collection of different colors, tones, and controls, allowing you to find your own unique voice. Reviews

A great big wow.
I have for years played a G&L L2000 and the older you get the less weight you need hanging off the shoulder. My bass is from the very early 80's so yes, it's heavy. I have for a while wanted a lighter bass that would be affordable and sound great as there are so many choices. I have looked at the Sterling brand for a while and made my choice. I wanted half wounds and the strings to be lowered. Half wounds because I hate that sandpaper sound, lowered because why fight with strings when you're playing. Sweetwater set it up the way I wanted, thank you Alex for the help as it was awesome right out of the box.
