Channels the Electrifying Spirit of a Metal Pioneer

A contemporary update of the early-’80s Randy Rhoads model, the Jackson American Series Rhoads RR24 HT offers the modern player a razor-sharp blend of heritage and innovation. This sleek, aggressively styled solidbody electric guitar boasts an asymmetrical, offset-V-shaped alder body, which is reinforced by robust neck-through construction, ensuring rock-solid stability and natural, singing sustain in endless supply. The RR24 HT features a 3-piece maple Speed Neck, which is capped with a lightning-fast compound-radius ebony fingerboard and crowned with 24 jumbo-size stainless steel frets. Matched with a high-gain amplifier pushed to its limits, this axe’s direct-mount Seymour Duncan humbuckers unleash tones that rip through fusion, blaze through hard rock, and annihilate in full-throttle metal. You also get a Hipshot hardtail bridge, Gotoh locking tuning machines, and a Graph Tech TUSQ XL nut, ensuring bulletproof stability and maximum vibration transfer. Inverse mother-of-pearl sharkfin fingerboard inlays, Luminlay side dots, a reverse headstock, and a spotlight-ready satin finish put the perfect final touches on this exquisite instrument. Crafted where it all started — in Corona, California — the American Series Rhoads RR24 HT was forged for fearless shredders who dare to chase the same electrifying legacy Randy carved into rock history.

High-octane performance and playability

Players with high-performance demands will be duly impressed by the American Series Rhoads RR24 HT. For starters, this fabulous instrument boasts a surprisingly ergonomic, offset-V-shaped body, meticulously sculpted from a solid slab of alder. The RR24 HT’s 3-piece, graphite-reinforced maple Speed Neck and its 24-fret, compound-radius ebony fingerboard offer next-level playability. You’ll also appreciate this guitar’s neck-through-body construction, which gives you a super-unobtrusive heel shape and unrestrained vibrational transfer. There’s a reason why so many metal-obsessed guitarists rate Jacksons as their number-one weapon for insane leads, sudden-death riffs, and other high-flying fretboard hijinks; pick up the American Series Rhoads RR24 HT, and you’ll feel that way too.

Classic hot-rodded humbucker tones

Cranking out relentless metal tones, the Jackson American Series Rhoads RR24 HT harnesses its direct-mount Seymour Duncan humbuckers for pure high-gain fury. In the bridge, you’ll find a JB Model — the classic hot-rodded humbucker. You know, that sound — the one we’ve all loved for the last 30 years. Conversely, the ’59 Model in the neck is a moderate-output pickup inspired by the PAF-style humbuckers of yesteryear, giving you access to an entire arsenal of glorious vintage-flavored, alnico-fueled textures. These scorchers boast plenty of output without sacrificing tone, adding harmonics, sustain, and the perfect amount of distortion to your playing. To top it off, the American Series Rhoads RR24 HT’s streamlined controls comprise dome-style Volume and Tone knobs, along with a 3-way blade switch, giving rise to a wide palette of metal-ready sonic textures.

Loaded with bulletproof hardware

When you step onto the stage with the American Series Rhoads RR24 HT, you can let confidence take the lead; this axe won’t let you down. Its Hipshot 6 hardtail bridge melds performance, aesthetics, and ergonomics, supplying you with spot-on intonation and rock-solid reliability. Furthermore, the tuning stability afforded by its Gotoh MG-T locking tuning machines is absolutely bulletproof. At Sweetwater, we’re impressed by this guitar’s robust hardware; for a high-performance axe that won’t flinch under pressure, look no further than the American Series Rhoads RR24 HT.

Reviews

Amazing guitar once some issues were addressed

I ordered and received this guitar about a week ago and out of the box it only felt ok. I inspected closely and realized the nut slots were way under filed. So much so that notes on the 1st fret were going sharp and my fingers were hurting quickly. I took it to my local luthier and he filed the nut slots deeper and set it up low how I like it. He did point out that the 3rd 5th and 7th frets were a little high and hammered them a bit and said it made it mostly better but they were still slightly high. After hammering they were low enough for me not to notice at all when playing. We're talking marginally unlevel. Figure the frets probably popped up a bit during storage and or shipping. That's ok.

The poor nut file job from factory in my opinion is not ok on a guitar of this price and caliber. This is why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. After the file and setup this guitar now feels and sounds notably better than my others I own and have played. The whole guitar resonates acoustically and it has amazing note definition and clarity. My other guitars all have the exact same pickups so this is definitely due to the overall build quality which is amazing (except for the oversight on the nut).

Sweetwater please feed this info on the nut back to Jackson if you can as it was a bit of a disappointment on a nearly $ brand new American made guitar. We're not talking high vs low action we're talking sharp notes and huge discomfort near the nut before I had my guy fix it. He concurred immediately it was unacceptably under filed and strings off the nut too high.

Customers, don't let this dissuade you. Hopefully my issue with the nut slots being under filed was a rarity. This guitar is the real deal and means business.

If I bought another I'd pay Sweetwater for a setup including going over the nut and possibly also checking the fret level to get it all addressed upfront.

Sonic Perfection ...
What can I say ... Perfection in my humble opinion ... Fast neck ... Impeccable craftsmanship ... Hard to put down ... I could keep going, but if you know, you know. The only major change I'm making is swapping out the JB / 59 combo for a set of Jeff Loomis Blackouts. My sales rep. Brad Jones was a rock star as usual and will continue to shop at Sweetwater as long as I can hold a pick ... \m/
