Top-of-the-line Headphone Bundle

Rupert Neve Designs RNHP is a state-of-the-art headphone amplifier. When Mr. Neve turns his attention to anything, you know it's going to be good — spectacularly so. What the RNHP delivers is reliable, reference-grade amplification for any pair of headphones. Based on the headphone amp in the RND 5060 Centerpiece, the dedicated 24-volt design is spec'd with calibrated +4dBu Line, RCA, and 1/8" stereo inputs. Everything is housed in a road-tough, VESA-mountable steel chassis. The unit's effortless sonic performance and the ability to drive virtually any headphones without compromise, let you perform, mix, and savor your music with stunning clarity.

This special bundle includes Rupert Neve Designs' RNHP headphone amp and Sennheiser HD 650 headphones.

Unerring accuracy for better performances

You know you perform your best when your cans sound great — that's where the RNHP can make a huge difference. Many integrated headphone amps are plagued with a non-linear frequency response, as well as noise, distortion, and skimpy headroom. To some, these units' lackluster sonic performance may seem "close enough for rock 'n' roll". However, at Sweetwater we believe the performer's subconscious response should also be considered. After all, if you're not inspired by what you're hearing, your performance will suffer.

Headphones For Golden Ears

A favorite among our most discerning audiophile clients, the Sennheiser HD 650 open dynamic professional stereo headphones are an ideal choice for the professional engineer. Exacting design standards ensure the finest performance. Features include high-quality open metal mesh earpiece covers for extremely transparent sound, computer-optimized magnet systems to minimize harmonic and intermodulation distortion, and extremely lightweight aluminum voice coils for excellent transient response.

Rupert Neve Designs RNHP + Sennheiser HD 650 Bundle Includes:

  • Rupert Neve Designs RNHP headphone amp
  • Sennheiser HD 650 headphones
  • 1/8" stereo mini jack plug with adapter to 1/4" stereo jack plug

Love this Combo The Headset is comfortable and the Rupert NeveHeadphone Amp is too die for !

This is a great set up even if it no longer available as a Bundle I would pay the price for he separate items. If I already had a set of Headphones I really ,really liked, I might keep them but for certain BUY THE NEVE AMP. I roadie for different bands that come to Alaska , many of then are solo acts. My F-350 has built in 110V outlets and I let my client enjoy themselves to the max!!!
Music background: worn out, shell of a roadie, I repair amps, guitars, pedals anything with electrons !

Tip of the Spear - Clear Reference!

In comparison a pair of Sennheiser 98's are my previous headphones. Consulting for premasters was going well on the 98's and Sonarworks Headphone edition; I can say with confidence that's a valid strategy.

Price-wise I can't find a deal this good anywhere else other than possibly going the used route. Seeing as I wasn't interested in dealing with surprises this bundle is perfect.

First listen revealed a much darker sound than I was expecting. Quickly I realized this was probably the best feature of the HD650's. Less hype in the upper mids/highs and greater sub bass. For me if I heard a mix with very present top end it was going to be excessively bright on anything else. In the same vein if I reached to turn down the gain while using the HD650's the top end was way to much or fatiguing at that level. Again, this is all in context of reviewing premasters. Listening to my favorite songs proved what I was hearing. Smooth, balanced audio spectrum on the HD650's.

The RNHP is crystal clear, next to no hype. Drives the 650's to deafening... so don't do that. Plenty of gain for all headphones. My on peeve is the "pop" when turning the unit on; I leave the headphones unplugged until the RNHP has energized. (Almost instant).

What the RNHP and HD650 doesn't do: no blending of L & R, no mono sum, no phase invert. This package is top notch but it doesn't won't reflect the depth or complete image of a mix or master the way loudspeakers in a room will. Frequency reproduction/characteristics are extremely similar to my pair of Dynaudio M1's. I won't say you can get by on just this bundle for mixing/mastering, however, it's a set of tools that puts me in a much better position for those tasks. Demoing an artist's extra wide mixes on the HD650's gave isolated L and R image. Loudspeakers dominated on revealing just how unnatural the false stereo field was. Psychoacoustics couldn't kick in enough on headphones; still primarily L and R.

A true listening pleasure for just enjoying music.

Worth every penny spent and saved.

Unexpected

I own a recording studio and have a $ headphone/headphone amp combination there. For my woodwind instruction studio at a different location, I bought a new Apogee interface. The headphone amp in the interface was their latest technology, and was pretty good. But I wanted more of a reference headphone for my teaching studio, and was looking at the Neve and the 650's. Then I found this package deal and it seemed perfect.
My interface has limited outputs, so I have to use the headphone amp out into the Neve. When I A/B'd the ATH M50's with the interface headphone amp vs the neve being fed by the same headphone output, I was blown away. Everything changed. Bass extension, punch, clarity--everything. And don't even think about using the 650's without a headphone amp. That's like running a sports car engine on bad gasoline. You'll never hear them the way they're designed to be heard until you power them correctly.
Money very well spent!
