Plied seven times over with lively maple, each shell in the Renown pack affords drummers that iconic warm tonality with an articulate and energetic responsiveness to match. The shells are then treated for maximum sonic and structural integrity by way of Gretsch’s classic silver sealer interior shell lining and are then shaved with their proprietary 30-degree bearing edges to help enhance the drumhead’s contact with the shell. Fitted with 302 double-flanged hoops and topped with dependable and well-rebounding Remo heads, the Renown comes appointed for excellence and tonal control in virtually any situation, from delicate studio tracking to high-stakes performances.

Magnificent and pure maple tone
Pure maple shell construction offers drummers an incomparably versatile sound, which is why it’s been such a chosen formula by the best drum builders, including Gretsch, for decades. A Gretsch secret recipe since the mid-1950s, the silver sealer applied to the interior of each drum shell serves a couple different purposes. Firstly, its sealing properties provide a stronger, more cohesive interior shell surface, maximizing its structural longevity. As a secondary result, the tone of the shell is purified to a degree, and given an edge up on other drums in the realms of its natural resonance and roundness.
But the Renown doesn’t just impress in the tonewood realm — it’s well equipped across the board with premium hardware. The Renown’s notable appointments include the 302 hoops atop every shell. Taking after a more vintage approach, Sweetwater drummers find these double-flanged hoops promote incredible tonal focus from each drum, not to mention more impactful rimshots and side-sticks.
