Hardtail RG at a Great Price

The Ibanez RGRT421 solidbody electric guitar is purpose-built for high-speed, low-drag playability. It all starts with the seductive and aggressive RG body style. The RGRT421 also packs a fast-playing maple/walnut Wizard III neck and a resonant, well-balanced mahogany body. You'll love how this guitar feels as soon as you pick it up. And it sports two hot Quantum humbuckers, perfect for rock, blues, and metal. Get your hands on an Ibanez RGRT421 solidbody electric guitar for impressive feel and tone, and a great value too.

Classic RG performance

The Ibanez RG series of guitars has remained a standard in rock music for the last couple of decades, thanks to the effortless playability of its Wizard neck. Switching between aggressive rhythm playing and wild lead lines is effortless on this slim-profile neck. And the RG body style's aggressive lines strike an imposing look onstage while being expertly contoured and ensuring a comfortable playing experience. Guitarists here at Sweetwater love the feel and playability of Ibanez's RG guitars when it comes to fast, precise fretwork.

Fixed bridge stability for rock-solid tuning

The Ibanez RGRT421 sports a fixed bridge, which gives you the peace of mind that comes from rock-solid tuning stability. From standard to lowered tunings, your guitar's pitch will remain more stable, and the string tension will feel more consistent. Also, when you change tunings on the fly, they will be ready to go without messing with the tremolo or loosening locking nuts. Many also attribute greatly increased sustain and a fatter overall tone to the way hardtail bridges transfer the string's energy directly to the RGRT421's body.

Big tonal range

With two Quantum humbucking pickups and 5-way switching, you'll be able to shape your tone any way you like on the RGRT421. The Quantum humbuckers offer plenty of punch and output to drive your favorite amplifiers or distortion stompboxes. But their clear top end and full lows allow them to sound fantastic throughout a wide variety of additional styles. Although the Ibanez RG will forever be known as a rock guitar, the RGRT421's fast playability, extreme comfort, and tonal variety make it a great guitar for a whole lot more.

Ibanez RGRT421 Solidbody Electric Guitar Features:

  • Classic Ibanez RG playability and looks at a value-packed price
  • Fast 5-piece maple/walnut Wizard III neck
  • Dual Quantum humbucking pickups give you a wide tonal range to play with
  • Fixed bridge gives you top-notch tuning stability and sustain
  • 2 knobs and a 5-way pickup selector make dialing in your tone effortless
  • Comfortable and sleek RG styling

Reviews

Absolutely astonishing!!! Ibanez Rgrt421
I purchased this because I liked the body shape, loved the pickup switching options, and wanted something light weight for longer gigs..
I got alot more than I expected...
This guitar has a neck thru and hardtail mounted directly to the neck through slab,as are the pickups, this monster out sustains a 5k historic Gibson R9, I was absolutely astonished!!!
It's also super stable with tuning*actually exceptional* I swapped the tuners to hipshot locking and this thing stays in tune, better than any other guitar I own or have owned..
I also switched the pickups to the Dimarzio Dominion set,and this guitar came to life, and absolutely screams, it's insane...
I'm still trying to figure out how this guitar absolutely puts my Gibson historic R9*2020 to shame in every way,it plays better, sounds better, feels better, sustains better has better note clarity and definition, I could go on and on.
The nyatoh body is sooooo light, but it's super dense and highly resonate..
The maple/walnut wizard 3 neck is absolutely silky smooth and super super fast. The finish is a super thin satin poly that let's the wood vibrate more than a standard usual poly finish and it's really comfortable on the neck,as it doesn't get sticky when you're playing..
The Jatoba fretboard adds a nice chocolate contrast to the satin black finish and has a middy tone reminiscent of ebony..
I can't figure out how this guitar is this cheap, yet it's the best guitar I own..
Needless to say it's now my #1 go-to trusty reliable tone monster..
It's irreplaceable to me...
Music background: Guitarist, Songwriter, Producer
Exceeded expectations
At this price point I wondered how well it would set up and play. Mine is a very well built guitar and I had it set up nicely in about an hour. Sounds and plays great. Great resonance/sustain in a really light guitar. Love the finish. Will likely replace the nut. Overall a great guitar and a steal at this price.
An excellent player
This guitar is amazing in its quality and feel. The neck is what you'd expect from Ibanez...fast. A very basic guitar with plenty of room for modifications which is why I purchased this particular model in general. With an upgrade to locking tuners and high output humbuckers of your choosing this guitar becomes more high quality than it already is, I could have got a guitar in a more expensive price range but this guitar is very much what I like in a guitar and will serve as an excellent workhorse. 10 out of 10.
Music background: down tuned metal.
Amazing guitar!!
After being burned by a guitar with a tremolo bridge, I set out to get a guitar with a fixed bridge. What I got was a guitar that felt amazing to play out of the box, so natural with great tones, great weight. Can't recommend enough! Beautiful guitar too.
Fantastic guitar for the price!!!
This might be the best guitar for the price that I've ever played. It feels like a much more expensive guitar! The only thing I upgraded on the guitar was the pickups to a set of Black Winters, but that's just personal preference that I put in most of my guitars! It's for sure more than worth what you pay for this neck through beauty!!
