The RGA42FM from Ibanez may be considered to be in the intermediate category but the real story is in the test drive. 85-90 hours in and the instrument keeps getting better. The finish is excellent, more satin matte than flat and open hand pick technique has polished some to a sheeny semi-gloss. Sustain is phenomenal attribute that to mahogany, very straight hard maple neck and great fit and finish on the joint. Combined with the sleek fretwork and good factory setup it's a great axe. The test was head to head after around 40 playing hours against a Gibson Diablo SG and it stood up. Count this as a winner with great tones, dark gritty and mean as well as shimmering clean droplets falling from icicles.
Cons for me: not a fan of binding but it is crafted nicely and tuners are passable however the thing stays in tune after a beating which impressed myself and two buddies.
A few adjustments were made to dial intonation have to say a very solid purchase

I have owned a few Ibanez guitars, all have been the popular RG series including a higher end neck they model. This Ibanez plays as good as the rest of them. It's a fantastic guitar at a good price. I have been thinking about buying a second one as I play in different tunings- it's between this & the ESP LTD M200 DX which has been out of stock everywhere for months. The stock pickups in the Ibanez aren't bad - I've had worse. I did upgrade Duncan's & this thing rips. I have it tuned to drop C & I play a lot killswitch engage with it right now. Playing through a Boss Katana II w/ vintage 30 & I have no complaints & that's coming from a guy who also plays a Peavey 6505 w/ vintage 30. Great guitar. Would easily buy again.

Just a great-playing guitar. Came set up well. Pickups sound good. Guitar is responsive and satisfying. Very comfortable, and lightweight to boot! And you can't beat those sleek Ibanez horns.

Excellent entry level guitar. The quality is top notch, the sound it produces is as perfect as you'd expect from Ibanez, and is lightweight. It arrived ready to play straight out of the box. I was surprised that it was nearly in tune and ready to play. It's a beautiful guitar, both aesthetically and quality wise.

Their customer service is ALWAYS top tier, they're always ready to answer my questions and are very knowledgeable about their products.

Shipping was lightning quick!!!

I would highly recommend Sweetwater to anyone and everyone.
