The RGA42FM from Ibanez may be considered to be in the intermediate category but the real story is in the test drive. 85-90 hours in and the instrument keeps getting better. The finish is excellent, more satin matte than flat and open hand pick technique has polished some to a sheeny semi-gloss. Sustain is phenomenal attribute that to mahogany, very straight hard maple neck and great fit and finish on the joint. Combined with the sleek fretwork and good factory setup it's a great axe. The test was head to head after around 40 playing hours against a Gibson Diablo SG and it stood up. Count this as a winner with great tones, dark gritty and mean as well as shimmering clean droplets falling from icicles.
Cons for me: not a fan of binding but it is crafted nicely and tuners are passable however the thing stays in tune after a beating which impressed myself and two buddies.
A few adjustments were made to dial intonation have to say a very solid purchase

Fantastic ride for the price point

I ordered this for the flatter radius and wider nut after putting guitars down for 15 years. What a pleasure to play! It is my go-to for daily practice and fun. It's so light and easy to handle it's perfect for my practice routines. I have 2 guitars that cost 4 times as much as this one, but after careful setup this is is just so fun to play. Absolutely feather light and "flickable" it's a joy whether standing and getting serious or reclined on the couch. It gets the most play time of my 7 guitars. I would absolutely recommend this to A) beginners and intermediate players, B) for professionals that want a super light, playful guitar to bang around with, or C) anybody wanting a wider neck. This is just so dang fun to play I can't put it down! "Playful & Fun" best describe this...despite it's somewhat serious appearance (which I love) Buy it, it will change your playing and make you SMILE!

This guitar is bad *** great set up Sweetwater did a great job thank you this guitar is a lot better than my Jackson it is so light neck is perfect cant beat this guitar

Ibanez RGA Series RGA42FM-Dragon Eye Burst

I really love my Ibanez RGA series Dragon Eye Burst Flat. I love the clinical sound it has.
I like the range of the pick up selector . The body is very comfortable . At first, I wanted a beginner
guitar, but once I saw this one, I really liked the color. I wanted a better quality than beginner.
Not to take away from beginner guitars. It was awsome to be helped by the Sweetwater salesmen.
I'm not sure why I had trouble trying to get to the end part of my online shopping where it thanks
you for the order when your done. I knew something was not right. I contacted the salesmen,
& he was not in but another salesmen came to my aid & fixed my problem. Sure did make me feel good.
I wondered if it was a web glitch or what. I was feeling frustrated. I felt better after I was helped.
I was glad I got talked into buying a better case for my guitar. My Gator case was well worth the
investment. The case comes with 2 keys. Thank you Sweetwater for helping me with my order.

Lovin' it

I purchased this guitar a few months ago from Sweetwater and have really been enjoying it. I am a relative beginner (maybe early intermediate) to guitar and this is my first electric. I have been spending about an hour or a bit more per day with it and it has been a joy to play. I have absolutely no complaints. Very nice weight, and good sound. I like the fact that it is a hardtail for easy tuning changes, passive pickups so I don't have to worry about batteries. And it looks great. Perfect for where I am at as a new guitar player!
