Sleek and Exotic RG

The Ibanez RG421PB solidbody electric guitar is purposely built for high-speed, low-drag playing. It all starts with the seductive and aggressive RG body that is capped with beautiful poplar burl. The RG421PB also gives you a fast-playing maple Wizard III neck and a resonant, well-balanced meranti body. You'll love how this guitar feels as soon as you pick it up. And it sports two hot Quantum humbuckers, perfect for rock, blues, and metal. Get your hands on an Ibanez RG421PB solidbody electric guitar, and prepare to rock.

Classic RG performance

The Ibanez RG series of guitars has remained a standard in rock music for decades, thanks to the effortless playability of its Wizard III neck. Switching between aggressive rhythm playing and wild lead lines is effortless on this slim-profile neck. And the RG body style's aggressive curves strike an imposing look onstage while being expertly contoured for a comfortable playing experience. Guitarists here at Sweetwater love the feel and playability of Ibanez's RG guitars. You will, too!

Fixed bridge stability for rock-solid tuning

The Ibanez RG421PB sports a fixed bridge, which gives the peace of mind that comes from rock-solid tuning stability. From standard to lowered tunings, your guitar's pitch will remain more stable, and the string tension will feel more consistent. Also, when you change tunings on the fly, they will be ready to go without messing with the tremolo or loosening locking nuts. Many also attribute greatly increased sustain and a fatter overall tone to the way hardtail bridges transfer the string's energy directly to the RG421PB's body.

Big tonal range

With two Quantum humbucking pickups and 3-way switching, you'll be able to shape your tone any way you like on the RG421PB. The Quantum humbuckers offer plenty of punch and output to drive your favorite amplifiers or distortion stompboxes. But their clear top end and full lows allow them to sound fantastic throughout a wide variety of additional styles. Although the Ibanez RG will forever be known as a rock guitar, the RG421PB's fast playability, extreme comfort, and tonal variety make it a great guitar for a whole lot more.

  • Classic Ibanez RG playability and looks at a value-packed price

Reviews

My son absolutely loves this guitar
I bought this guitar for my son for Christmas. I can't tell you how happy he has been playing it. I bought him a Donner DST152R to see if he'd like to start playing. A year later I decided it was time to get him an upgrade since he's been solid at his practicing. Man what a step up in sound not to mention it's gorgeous looking guitar. I'm no expert in guitars but after hours and hours of looking at reviews, I believe I definitely made the right choice.
I'd also like to mention the great service I got from my rep from Sweetwater, Manuel Robles. I had a shipping issue caused by FedEX not updating their tracking. I asked to have it sent to a FedEX drop off point so my son wouldn't accidentally see the guitar before Christmas. I had direct contact with Manuel and he shipped me another guitar immediately. I soon figured out the issue with the first MIA guitar and all was resolved. I can't thank you enough for the service I was given. A couple days later I ordered a last minute amp (positive spark mini) for my wife. Again, Manuel came through with a speedy delivery. Many thanks my man. Be back again soon.
One of the best

I've been playing guitar for almost a year now, played many shows with it and not a single problem. I got this guitar about 7 months ago and I'm yet to play a guitar I've liked more, and I've played guitars that are worth thousands of dollars. It is so comfortable, sounds amazing, is decently light, sounds incredible, and looks butiful. The tonal variety is everything you'll ever need, it can sound like a Telle or a strat and still have all the sounds you want from a 2 humbucker guitar. I play rock, metal, blues, jazz, funk, reggae, and indie and this guitar has all the tones I would ever want. The reason I give this guitar 4.5 stars is because the 2 and 4 positions (strat and Telle sounds) are quieter than the 1, 3, and 5 but there isn't much that anyone can do about that. The other issue I have is that the tuner for the A string is a little stiff but that's probably just thee guitar I got. wether this is your first guitar, or your 100th guitar, I think it's definitely worth the buy.

Ibanez RG421PB

Played serious for over 50 years--with many high end guitars. Didn't want to pay high bucks for Ibanez MM1 or AZ series. Put seymour duncans--jazz in neck, JB bridge. For shredding type guitar--exc3llent. Beautiful finish, under 7pds, neck is quick--fits a key spot in my guitars. Not a collector; every guitar has to be unique and stand on its own. IDK how anyone could complain about $ on this. I would change a few things to perfect it. IDT you don't get what you pay for with most guitars well into the thousands! I've owned about 70 through the years. Just my honest somewhat humble opinion.

Fine guitar for the money
Build and quality is excellent. I love the choice of woods, it's very beautiful. I was super pleased to find the pickups did not have a stupid high resistance. I measured 7.09k on the neck and 8.13k on the bridge. These are what I consider near perfect values for humbucker windings. I was thinking I would need to replace the pickups completely, now I'm only going to replace the ceramic magnets with ALNICO magnets. DONE. The Gotoh tuners are good, pleased with everything. I am replacing the plastic nut with a Tusque nut, but that isn't really a big deal at all.

The neck is straight and fast. I did need to tweak the truss rod a little, but didn't need to do any fret work. After removing the neck and rolling over the fretboard edges, it feels perfect. These are little sharper than I like from the factory, but I need to remember that this is a sub $ guitar. It will need this attention to feel like a $ guitar. After the making these mods, this guitar will stand its ground against much more expensive models. Knowing how to do this work, I consider guitars like this stupid good bargains for the $. It's worlds better than what a sub $ guitar was 35 years ago when I was starting. Kids don't know how good they have it.
Natural
It just feels right the wizard 3 neck is the bomb I have one in each room of my house. The pups are pretty good I personally don't have a problem with quantum's the playability of this guitar makes it worth pulling the trigger if you're a player this one will work you And it's Beautiful. Felipe hooked me up on fast shipping not a scratch out of the box 2 strings were a little flat tuned it once over the next hour its keeper action was ON. I don't buy guitars anywhere else for a reason Felipe & sweetcare!
