Advanced Mastering-grade 5.1 Monitoring for Your Studio

Over two years of intensive research and development went into the Heritage Audio Reference Audio Monitoring systems, and it shows. Sharing the same state-of-the-art circuitry and core analog audio path, the three RAM systems deliver audiophile-quality sound and feature sets tailored for project studios, commercial recording facilities, and post-production houses who deliver in 5.1 surround. The top-of-the-line RAM System 5000 is designed for studios that require extensive, mastering-grade stereo and 5.1 monitoring functionality.

Feature-packed console-style stereo and 5.1 monitor controller

The System 5000 consists of a desktop-format, wireless remote monitor controller and a 19" rackmount unit. Heritage Audio knows that the System 5000 will be used in a wide range of high-end studio environments, so they designed it for maximum flexibility. Configurable for 5.1 or stereo, the System 5000 gives you generous I/O for easy integration into your monitoring setup. For the modern hybrid studio, it provides all the functionality of a large-format console center section, including speaker switching, Dim, Mute, and Solo functionality, subwoofer management, headphone amplification, cue-mix distribution, wireless talkback, digital inputs with premium Wolfson D/A conversion, and even Bluetooth for easy mobile device integration. Whether you're mixing hit records or sound for picture, the Heritage Audio RAM System 5000 will take your monitoring accuracy and versatility to a whole new level.

Audiophile-quality monitoring for any size studio

All three RAM systems employ state-of-the-art analog circuitry for superior transparency and ultra-low noise and distortion. The units are fitted with 64-step, gold-plated relay ladder attenuation for master level control — a feature usually found only on high-end large-format consoles. They also support Bluetooth connectivity for convenient wireless input from mobile devices. And with its classic RAF-gray cosmetics and prominent red Marconi knob, your RAM system will add a touch of class to your control room. At Sweetwater, we're very excited about Heritage Audio's RAM systems. Whether you record at home or work in a world-class studio, mastering-grade monitoring has never been more accessible.

Almost Perfect
Coming from the Dangerous Music D-Box+ needing 5.1, I was nervous to switch monitor controllers and D/A. Outside of acoustics and monitors, the D/A is a big part of the sound you're able to achieve. The D/A isn't that different from the Dangerous and seems slightly flatter, not by much though and you honestly have to listen intently to hear it.

Using the analogue input, which is unfortunately the only way to use 5.1, the signal isn't colored in any way. One thing I immediately noticed is that the output seems louder than the D-Box+.

There are a few of things I've noticed that need improvement:

1. When not in 5.1 Mode, the surrounds have a faint buzz that disappears as soon as you switch to 5.1.
*This also happens if you switch to another input besides the 5.1 input.

2. The DB25 connectors for the Cue inputs and outputs are too close together. I tried 2 different brands of DB25 cables and the fit was EXTREMELY TIGHT for both. (Everything is plugged in and functions properly, but I will be reaching out to Heritage to find out what brand of cables they used for testing because even though it works, I am worried that overtime there could be strain on the connectors.)

3. The talkback cannot latch.

4. The talkback has an audible "click" when engaged. ***SET THE VOLUME LOW BEFORE FIRST USAGE***

All that aside, I really like how the unit looks, not only in my rack, but also the remote on the desk. The volume knob is HUGE, which I'm still getting used to, but it is nice for not having to look at the controller to turn the volume up or down. Just reach in the direction on the controller and your hand will easily find the knob (even blind folded

A great monitor controller
I've had the RAM 5000 for more than two years now and it's been a great monitor controller. The sound is very neutral, it's built like a tank, and it has great features. A standout is the wireless remote control with detented level pot, not to mention the Bluetooth feature that allows anyone to link up their phone/laptop/device to play their own music through the monitor speakers, which musicians love to reference mixes against their favorite recordings. The connections are instantaneous and stable. Switching between monitors is fast and there's no pop or noise of any kind. The electret talkback mic works well, and the two headphone jacks are neutral-sounding and powerful. This unit allows 5.1 immersive sound, I hope they come up with a 9.2 version.

Just buy it
This thing sounds amazing and is easy to use. The Bluetooth controller is genius. I'm running two sets of monitors in the controller room and 1 set in the live room. Very convenient. Just buy it… You won't be disappointed.
Amazing features
At last time I switched from Dangerous Music MONITOR ST and buy this one. Robust, full of features, clean sound, wireless, bluetooth etc.The best controller for the money. Heritage Audio do it again!
I love it!

Sounds great
I've been using this for the last 2 years. It sounds great, wireless remote is cool and Bluetooth is awesome.

-My only negative feedback would be that in 2 years all the white volume markings and white printed text has worn off completely.

-there is no way to see what the battery level is.

-the remote sometimes doesn't connect to the main unit.
