Ex Machina Soundworks pushes the boundaries of speaker technology, leveraging modern advancements in circuit design, materials development, and DSP. Their entire range of monitors is powered by high-efficiency Hypex Ncore amplifiers and feature a cutting-edge coaxial design for the mid- and high-frequency drivers. They also come equipped with powerful yet compact subwoofers that are both accurate and loud enough to serve as “client killers” when it comes time to impress. The Ex Machina Soundworks Quasar MKII is outfitted with two 8-inch low-frequency drivers, a 6.5-inch mid-frequency driver, and a 1-inch high-frequency driver. Plus, each Quasar MKII undergoes Ex Machina Soundworks’ proprietary calibration process to ensure perfect parity between speakers in a set.

Sealed cabinet delivers punchy and accurate sound
Ex Machina Soundworks houses all their monitors in sealed, highly braced cabinets constructed from Valchromat. This innovative wood fiber panel uses a special binding resin for enhanced rigidity, yielding a cabinet that is more acoustically inert than MDF or plywood enclosures. In combination with Ex Machina Soundworks’ clever design, this material mitigates the group delay and turbulence present in many traditional ported monitors.
SHARC-powered DSP for digital crossover and calibration
Every Ex Machina Soundworks monitor is outfitted with an individual SHARC processor, the industry standard for premium-quality DSP. Ex Machina Soundworks leverages the power of SHARC DSP for their ultra-precise digital crossovers, protection limiters, and proprietary phase and magnitude calibration technology. To ensure a pristine AD/DA path, Ex Machina Soundworks chooses high-performance AKM Velvet Sound converters, the same converters found in many top-tier audio interfaces carried at Sweetwater.
Coaxial mid- and high-frequency drivers reduce off-axis coloration
Working in collaboration with renowned loudspeaker developer SEAS, Ex Machina Soundworks created their signature 18cm coaxial mid- and high-frequency drive unit to provide engineers with a super-wide listening sweet spot and a lifelike center image. The midrange range driver is made from TeXtreme, a cutting-edge carbon fiber material that’s lightweight, strong, and stiff, making for the perfect material for shaping a midrange cone into an optimized waveguide for the concentric tweeter. Speaking of which, the tweeter is the first Composite Sound Metamodal TX diaphragm used in a professional loudspeaker; it exhibits a superb transient response and ample detail without a touch of harshness.
Powerful subwoofer with a compact design
A 22cm subwoofer, designed and built by SEAS exclusively for Ex Machina Soundworks, provides the powerful, articulate thump of a large driver in a more compact form. Using large magnets, a highly symmetrical suspension system, and lightweight aluminum alloy diaphragms, this design allows for an impressive 28mm of linear peak to peak excursion and 56mm with no damage — meaning you can push some serious air without sacrificing clarity or threatening a blowout.
