Reviews

Review Update: After 6 Years, Like It More Than Ever
I was playing tonight and realized how much I really love this pedal. Needed to update my original review. It's held up GREAT after 6 years of pretty heavy use. Initially, I had some minor criticisms, but they shouldn't discourage anyone from buying it. All adjustments still work fine. I've converted between direct and chain drive, no problem. I prefer the feel of the direct drive setup, but the chain drive works fine.

It's a bit on the light side build-wise, but I have a big clumsy foot and never had a problem.

I want to emphasize the Ddrum Quicksilver feels smooth and agile. There are quite a few newer pedals with more advanced design features (cost a lot more, too), but this is a truly quality direct drive model.

Great price for a versatile direct drive pedal
I bought the Ddrum Quicksilver because I wanted another direct drive pedal and couldn't afford another Pearl Demon Drive. I bought the Demon Drive from Sweetwater but they didn't sell the Quicksilver at the time I was looking for it. I'm glad to see Sweetwater now sells this pedal.
The only other direct drive I ever used is my Pearl Demon Drive, which is more precision built and features a wider foot plate. It's also twice the price.
The Quicksilver felt great right out of the box and the direct drive response is very similar to the Pearl. I used the optional foot board weight to beef it up a little. While it doesn't have a precision built look, all the adjustments work fine. I've set it up for both fast and power response, no problem. Ddrum also includes a chain drive conversion kit, making this a very versatile pedal.
Minor complaint: the multi tool slides out of its clamp instead of coming straight up, so once you attach the pedal to the bass drum, you can't remove it.
Overall, I'm very happy with this pedal and highly recommend it to any drummer looking for a direct drive pedal that won't break the bank.

Good pedal, but long time to get
Through 2 hours of jam and band type play, a brand new ddrum Quicksilver direct drive single bass drum pedal worked well. Spring adjustment was necessary and puzzled me at first because the nut that adjusts tension (bottom nut) is black plastic matching the spring bottom anchor post. So the post and nut appeared to be one solid piece with no adjustment possible. No detailed explanation of how to adjust spring tension was provided with the pedal and I think should be considered as information to be provided with future pedals offered.

Aspects of the pedal that are better than at least another far more expensive pedal that I own:
1) Good padded hoop clamp that holds well onto the hoop. No creeping of the pedal away from the hoop.

2) There are spurs through the foot plate that keep the pedal from fishtailing.

3) There is rubber padding on the bottom of the foot plate which keeps the pedal from fishtailing. I have a drum rug that won't allow Velcro to stick to it. So Velcro on the bottom of a smooth foot plate is not a solution for me to keep my more expensive pedal from fishtailing.

4) Pedal spring adjust is easily accessible and can adjust the spring to a reasonable range of tensions to suit the player.

While not an aspect of product quality to review, product availability was not good – took 8 months to get the pedal.

I don't rate new products with 5 stars because I think that it takes good performance over at least the warranty period to earn 5 stars.
