Natural Evolution of an Iconic Chorus

Building on the Red Witch Empress circuit and designed for Andy Summers of the Police, the Plurious is a chorus and vibrato pedal capable of a range of ethereal tones. Offered as one of many pedals in the Apothecary series, the Plurious brings new facets of movement to the legendary circuit with Voice, Depth, Veloce, and Blend control knobs that create an infinite number of chorus settings, from sparkling cleans to wobbly pitch bends and more. The Era toggle determines the frequency response for a darker vintage voice or modern sparkle, making the Plurious popular among Sweetwater guitarists for its versatile tone. Packed with the capability of several similar pedals, the Red Witch Plurious is only available at Sweetwater and is perfect for any genre or playing style you throw its way.

Intricate control and versatile effects

The Plurious is a highly versatile pedal with an expansive feature set that will quickly replace several others on your pedalboard. The Voice control allows you to dial in any chorus tone you want by adjusting the delay with the twist of a knob. The Depth control sets the modulation pulse with Veloce to sweep the movement speed, creating a wide variety of sounds with intricate control. Blend balances the effect with your dry signal to set your desired tonal clarity and craft even more unique sounds. Use the Vibe toggle to switch between chorus and vibrato, changing the nature of the pedal at your discretion. Finally, the Era toggle determines the frequency response, allowing for vintage warmth or modern bite.

Reviews

Exceptional versatility in an analog chorus
First off, just to lay it out there, I love the entire Apothecary line from Red Witch. They're not the most perfectly-behaved pedals out there, but they have incredible feature sets, gorgeous tones, and beautiful case design. (Because even if we don't admit it, we do sometimes still listen with our eyes.)

The Plurious Chorus is one of the more full-featured chorus pedals out there. It's a chorus/vibrato, to start, plus it has the voice, blend, and era controls to give you a level of tone customization more in line with a digital pedal than the true-analog bucket brigade design that the Plurious actually uses. (Voice changes the delay time of the BBDs, thus changing the intensity of the pitch shifting; Era changes the frequency balance of the chorus, almost like a bright switch; and blend is your standard wet/dry.)

The Plurious does have some quirks -- in particular, it's a bit low on headroom, so if you want to keep things completely clean and free of clipping, you will want to stick to vintage-output pickups and make sure that, if you're running the Plurious in an FX loop, that the loop is running at instrument level. My particular unit also has a slightly dim status LED. But the lush, dreamy chorusing I get out of the Plurious (and the precision with which I can dial it in) means that even though my Boss CE-2W has more clean headroom, the Plurious is what continually makes the cut for staying on the board.

If organic, characterful chorus with a broad sonic palette is what you're looking for, the Plurious has it in abundance.
Music background: Broadcasting, education
High quality versatile chorus
I like and enjoy using the Red Witch Plurious Analog Chorus Pedal for the following reasons.
Simple controls make it easy to find the sound you want and dial it in. They provide suggested presets in the manual for a place to start for a specific sound, then tweak from there. Or just start experimenting.
Either way, it has an amazing versatile sonic profile.

I tend to run a fairly spare pedalboard, using f/x to augment my guitar/amp rig rather than bring attention to the f/x. Two overdrives, 2 delays, wah, compression, and now added this chorus. Although it can provide the deep chorus sounds, I use it with just a touch of depth and fairly fast modulation speed. Adds silky overtones to enhance the basic tone with added sparkle and character.

Old school analog keeps everything warm.
