Cutting-edge 128-point Analog Patchbay with Full Digital Control

The Flock Audio Patch VT is a digitally controlled analog patchbay with hardware and software components that allow you to control equipment chain routings throughout your studio with flexibility and recall capabilities never before possible — no patch cables required! The hardware consists of a 128-point analog patchbay in a rugged 3U chassis with I/O arranged on rear-panel DB-25 connectors. Control over patchbay assignments and routings is carried out from either the Patch App or the Patch App DX, easy-to-use Mac/Windows or iOS software that communicates with the patchbay via USB. In Patch VT, no audio is ever converted to digital — all channels running through it remain in the analog domain and only the patchbay routings are altered digitally. Patch VT gives you the advantages of both worlds — pure analog audio with fully digital, computer-based control. This allows Patch App and Patch App DX routings to be instantly stored and recalled.

Front-panel connectors and 32 channels of phantom power

The Patch VT hardware offers a few cool extras. Two input and output connectors, Channels 1 and 2, are located on front-panel 1/4-inch-XLR combi connectors, so you can instantly patch equipment into your system. These are swappable in software between front and rear panel connectors. And up to 32 of the Patch VT’s connections can supply switchable 48V phantom power for microphones that require it. All of this — and more — is controlled through Flock Audio's companions Patch App or Patch App DX.

Control analog audio routings right from your computer or iOS devices

Engineers at Sweetwater know that your studio patching system is a make-or-break proposition that can either streamline or tie your workflow up in knots. Elegantly designed, finely tuned, and intuitively powerful, both the Patch App and Patch App DX bring the simplicity of drag-and-drop functionality — along with patch storage, full recall, and advanced multing capabilities — to the world of analog audio routing. The Flock Audio Patch App and Patch App DX let you accomplish basic or complex analog audio routings in seconds, with Patch App DX bringing this amazing level of control to your smartphone or tablet as well as offering additional options for color customization, session notes, and more.

Game Changer
So just setup a Flock Patch VT and boy are my arms tired. Actually, my whole body (This unit is heavy for us old dudes) So I am going to give you an honest opinion of this unit. First off, the good (Really Great!). For those of you people with normal patchbays this thing is a godsend. Being able to route from pres or interface to all your other gear (Eq's, Dynamics, Summing mixers, etc) and quickly is well worth the high price of admission. Yes, it is a wee-bit expensive but money well spent in saved time and more importantly in increased creativity. I'll explain. You can now easily mult right from their software with a click of a button. Think recording a vocal both processed and unprocessed, or maybe processed two different ways and recorded all at the same time. As well, I mult to my Powerplay 16 for monitoring. It is very impressive and it is well-built. So, the bad things I would have to say is 1. Flock needs some more in-depth videos on installation and uses and 2. Be prepared at least on the bigger units (Like the VT) for increased setup time and some diagnosing of setup mistakes. Yes, I made a few but some were interface issues particularly with my Apollo units and their i/o matrix. So otherwise really nothing wrong with the unit just my mis-wired brain and a reset on my Apollo's i/o setup. One other thing to keep in mind. You really are running your pres into this and so based on your studio you might still need a regular patchbay for routing your mics into your pres. Overall this unit is a game changer and their software seems to be constantly updated (although their enhanced app is either a subscription/ perpetual license ☹.) Btw no need for TT patch cables anymore
