I used old plug-in guitar tuners forever and was eyeing clip-on tuners. Went to shop for one and found a whole lot to choose from. So I looked for a balance of size/ shape, features, build quality, and price, and landed on this rechargeable D'Addario Eclipse.
Didn't take long before I came back to order more for all my guitar cases.
In my use, this product is an all-around winner:
-Built pretty well and articulates/ adjusts flexibly to plenty of different positions
-Very accurate, quick, and easy to tune, far more precise than my old plug-in tuners
-Well-designed, easy tuning readout/ method on a good-sized screen instantly shows sharp, flat or dead-on in tune
-Charged up once and have been using daily for weeks now; battery life seems strong, and charging didn't take long
-USB-C type plug-in to charge (YES! No silly proprietary or outdated charge port!)
-No weird button cells to have to buy/ worry about or batteries to give out right when you need 'em most
-Affordably priced and excellent overall value
Yes, you can just get one more app on your phone and use that instead of a dedicated tuner, but that won't work in some situations and this is what I chose, and now I have five of these.
D'Addario says you can get up to 24 hours of use out of a single charge, but obviously if you just store it a long time, the charge is going to trickle down, so I would charge these every once in a while. I haven't had to recharge one yet.
And I will say this: I am now tuning a lot more frequently than I was, just because it's so quick, easy, and accurate with these. Really like these a lot.
IMPORTANT TIP: I recommend you get some small case to put this tuner in, and it should last and last and last. I happened to have some small round zip-up cases meant to hold earbuds/ lavalier mics that are pretty much juuuuuuuust right to store and protect these D'Addario Eclipse tuners. I toss 'em right in the storage space of my guitar cases.
Been liking some D'Addario products quite a lot lately, finding they make some excellent, well-thought-out stuff. Well done on this one! Gets five stars from me.
