Just picked up a G&L Legacy Tribute and one of the stock tuners was a little sketchy, so I decided to just swap out the whole set. A local guitar tech recommended these and I'm glad I gave them a try. I've never replaced tuners before and never used locking tuners before this. Installation was pretty easy. I did NOT have a tiny enough drill bit to drill pilot holes for the rear mounting screws. This was not ideal, but I made it work, but not without nearly stripping a couple of the screws. Do yourself a favor and have some tiny drill bits on hand. It would have made the install and absolute breeze. Other than that little hang up due to my lack of tools/preparedness, it went really smooth. G&L Legacy stock tuners have two little nubs that keep them from rotating, but the D'Addario tuners covered up those holes so you can't see them. The tuners themselves fit right in the existing holes. No drama there. Restringing was super easy, and interesting, due to the auto-trim feature. You begin to tune it up and you hit a point where you feel like the tuner is stuck and won't turn anymore, but it's at this point it's clipping the string for you. Just keep turning, the string will clip and it will continue to turn freely after that. Guitar is holding tune very well with these tuners (and after some work smoothing out the nut slots). Wasn't sure I'd like the two-tone chrome/black thing but it works for me. I like these a lot and wouldn't hesitate to get these same tuners for some of my other guitars. Definitely impressed.

Wow! Can't say enough great things about these machine heads. I put them on today and are night and day better than the cheap ones that came on the guitar. Works as stated, trims the excess string right off. This has given my old Peavey Predator new life!

D'addario is quality stuff, I've used their strings and other products for literal decades. I've had these tuning machines on other guitars, inline and 3x3 they're solid, work as they should, hold tuning, the gearing feels really nice and no wraps around the peg and they look beautiful.
