Modern Electric with Vintage Styling and Versatile Tone

The Schecter PT Fastback II B Electric Guitar presents an incredible blend of modern flair and traditional playability. The PT Fastback II B is a classic T-style electric with a Bigsby Flat Top B50 bridge, making it clear that the designers at Schecter wanted to push the boundaries and bring you a vintage-inspired electric with an edge. And what an edge it brings! This classic Bigsby paired with dual SuperRock Custom Alnico humbuckers lets you dig in and deliver huge, versatile tone with all the tremolo stylings you desire. The lightweight, resonant alder body has a poly-gloss finish that really lets the color on this stage-ready axe shine, and a three-quarters pickguard provides ample scratch protection.

Versatile tone spanning grit to grace

A pair of SuperRock humbuckers in the PT Fastback II B offers players a modern tonal palette with plenty of grit and grace to play with. Drive either pickup with gain to get the growl you need for grunge, garage, and rockabilly, all without washing out your sound. When you need a cleaner, glassier response, the push-pull coil-split tone controls unleash the scooped, chunky tones beloved by blues and rock players. Thanks to this PT's 3-way toggle, you can easily fine-tune your tone even further.

Smooth "C"-profile maple neck

Whether you come from the new school or the old school, you're bound to love the thin "C"-profile maple neck on the PT Fastback II B. This ultra-comfortable profile is a favorite here at Sweetwater among a wide variety of players. In the right hands, it's ideal for both chording and lead playing. A stunning rosewood fingerboard with 22 extra-jumbo frets also makes for smooth, easy playability. Meanwhile, a bolt-on neck joint means this axe will support all the sustain and snap you desire as you wiggle through leads with the Bigsby Flat Top B50 leading the way.

Authentic Bigsby vibrato tailpiece

When it comes to classic rockabilly-style vibrato effects, nothing beats the look and control of a Bigsby. The Schecter PT Fastback II B comes pre-installed and set up with a licensed Bigsby Flat Top B50 vibrato tailpiece and roller ToM bridge. Combined, this system gives you expressive control in the hand and a tuning stability you can set your watch to. Whether you want to ride the retro surf and rockabilly wave or see what this cool tailpiece can do for your style of music, you'll sure to dig the PT Fastback II B's authentic Bigsby vibrato tailpiece.

Plays as good as it Looks
Played great right out of the box. The setup and frets were perfect (Thanks Sweetwater). Josh Sackett is the man with plan. Rock On Josh! The finish reminds of the classic "British Racing Green" with a bit of flake in it. Like my PT Special the neck is smooth with satin finish but less "chunky", closer to a slim taper neck. It is a heavy guitar, but unless you get a "Thinline", a Bigsby on T-Style is going to weigh a lot.

If you are into Bigsby's like me roller bridges are considered "tone killers". However in this configuration it performs well because the string angle is so tight on a T-Style it does it's job by keeping it in tune. Also do yourself a favor and replace the spring with a Reverend "Soft Touch" or something similar, it will transform your Bigsby. The stock one is no good.

So you get Grovers, Bigsby, Amazing Finish (colored headstock), Alder body, Coil Splitting, roller bridge, they have to have to go cheap on something. That would be the pickups. Even for stock humbuckers these were uninspiring. I guess the staggered uncovered pole screws are supposed to look like those wide range humbuckers made famous by Fender Tele Customs. But I purchased this guitar to find a home for my TV Jones Filtertrons and they sound amazing in this guitar.

I still give it 5 stars because Schecter has set the bar on how to mass produce electric guitars of this quality at a price point that other companies can't match. This is my 2nd Schecter and in my 20+ years of playing, buying, and selling guitars, I have never purchased guitars of such excellent quality and craftsmanship.

My Favorite
This has been my go-to guitar for the last year. I play at church nearly every week and need to have both clean and overdriven tones for which this guitar delivers...especially overdrive. What I like most is the satin finish on the back of the neck. It is super comfortable to play.

I was worried about tuning stability with the Bigsby, but I've had no issues whatsoever. The G-string is going to do its thing just like on any guitar. I use capos often and the tuning stays close enough.

The only thing I might change is the the tuners. I prefer locking tuners, but have no complaints with the Grovers it came with.

Overall it's a great guitar.

This is the perfect telecaster.
After years buying and playing Gibsons and Fenders, and hearing great things about Schecters, I started buying Schecter guitars about a year ago. I'm not a shredder so I only purchased their more traditional guitars. With that said, I purchased this PT Fastback about a month ago from my salesman Ryan Murphy. (And a shout out to you too Matt)

Unlike most other relatively inexpensive guitars, I've never had any switch, wiring or finish issues with these guitars. I will admit, I play the guitars, I don't put them under a microscope.

Now for this specific guitar. The pickups sound great in both humbucker and single coil mode. Only a slight difference in output when you switch between the two which is unlike the YouTube videos I watched. This finish is about as close to perfect as you can get and like all my Shecters, they were set up perfectly out of the box.

The satin neck is so smooth and fast, unbelievable. I did have a concern with extra jumbo frets but it they don't feel that different that a Fender Elite's tall narrow frets which are great.

Buy one, they are so versatile. I'm looking at my other guitars apologizing because I'm not sure they are ever going to get played.

One of the finest instruments I have played.
Flamenco guitarists have a term called "pulsation", that describes the resistance of the picking hand to the strings. When a guitar has good pulsation it is like walking in a controlled fashion into the wind. When one picks rapidly the pulsation allows for predictable resistance to the pick or fingers.

This guitar has amazing pulsation. It also has a very nice neck and the pickups are sweet in both selections: humbucker or single coil. I have added a fifth knob, a master volume, and it is the most amazing instrument ever. My guitar tech loves the guitar and keeps it in good action, but this thing is better than most Fenders being produced.

PT Fastback II B
Very nice guitar overall. The satin finished neck is slim and very comfortable, it felt instantly familiar the first time I played it. Honestly going from this to a Fender makes the Fender neck feel like a baseball bat - it's such a huge difference. I love both types of necks, it's just such a jarring difference between the two. The tuners, switch, and pots are all very solid. The finish is gorgeous and the binding seems to be perfect. I love the Bigsby and the roller saddles on the bridge are a very nice touch that really compliments the tremolo very well. I haven't had any tuning stability issues whatsoever. The only thing I'm not thrilled about is the pickups; to my ear they sound muddy and lacking in definition with any amount of overdrive. Through a clean amp they sound pretty good though, rich and satisfying. The ability to tap both pickups independently is pretty cool, although when either pickup is tapped it sounds more like an anemic humbucker than a single coil, which I guess makes sense since that's kind of what it is. But sound and tone are all personal preference and easily rectified with some new pickups. I may put in a set of filtertrons at some point to get more of the sound I'm after. Other than that the guitar is perfect.
