A Transparent Pop Filter from Stedman

Stedman's Proscreen 101 is a durable, metal pop filter that comes with a gooseneck. The plosive travels directly through it to the microphone with no loss of tone from your recording. The secret is the louvered metal pop filter screen that deflects wind downwards while letting sound go directly through (see the Proscreen 101 up close). Stedman pop filters do a fantastic job at ensuring your vocal performance is perfectly captured, and that no sound plosives ruin your vocal performance. Complete your recording setup with the Stedman Proscreen 101!

A pop filter is used with microphones to shield the diaphragm from sudden bursts of sound which can cause a popping effect. The shield is "transparent" to sound passage and does not interfere with the movement of sound towards the microphone. Pop filters are commonly seen in recording studios situated between 1 inches and 8 inches in front of a microphone.

The Proscreen 101 will last for many years — it can be cleaned with soap and water, and it looks good, too!

Such a difference
My foam pop filter for my AKG 414 disintegrated and was looking to replace and came across this one. I loved the idea that it could be used for any mic (not form fitted like the foam 414). I never liked foam anyways as they change the sound but not this! Def worth the purchase
Best pop filter
Best on the market. I've always disliked nylon based filters. The constant moisture from warm breath makes them.... nasty.... over time. This filter is all metal. The air still passes through it just directs it down rather than towards the mic capsule. Genius! Easy to wipe down, doesn't change acoustic qualities, built to last.
Wow
A friend of mine who is a full time audio engineer and VO actor recommended this pop filter to me. It's not that 40 plus dollars is expensive in general, it's that 40 plus dollars is expensive… for a pop filter. Literally twice the price of most every other pop filter on the planet. I did not believe that this thing could be that good.

I was wrong. It is a night and day difference from any other filter you've ever used.

As a voice actor, and veteran stage and film and TV actor, I make my living being articulate. I went to school for it. Trained classically in Shakespeare. Yet, as we know, with any given Voice Acting job, from commercial work to dubbing to animated films to video games… having great diction and articulation means popping the heck out of plosives.

Well with this item you no longer have to undo or dumb down your training and expertise. You can pretty much say anything and it takes care of it for you. An amazing little pop filter. Oh and it also is so small and see-thru that you can actually read your copy without having to move the mic off axis. Well worth more than it sells for.

I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Sweetwater has NO competition
Let me explain. This company IS NOT NORMAL. First when's the last time a company CALLED you to thank you for your business and get to know you? Not just email (if at all), not just a piece of invoice with thank you written somewhere, not just a thank you for your business when you hit "purchase" and then crickets.

Not only did Sweetwater CALL me to thank me and get to know be briefly (Don't miss this - NO ONE ELSE DOES THIS!), I also got a nice thank you email reassuring me they are the "real deal" and are here for me, package showed up early (don't be mad if this doesn't happen for you), I got a slick high quality Thank you card (not cheap to produce that kind of media by the way) with my package AS WELL AS a sweet (pun intended) bag of candies with their logo on the front AND a cool sticker. Folks above and beyond doesn't touch this customer service and expertise. Oh ya I got an additional thank you recently...wow. As a voice over artist, and blown away customer, I will keep coming back and proudly recommend Sweetwater to anyone.

There really are differences in quality between Pop Filters
I've been eyeballing the Stedman Proscreen for a while now. At first, I was reluctant to spend more than $20 on a pop filter as my experience has been that all pop filters were the same - this couldn't be further from the truth.

For the longest time, I was using the Knox gear pop filter which looks better than my homebrew pantyhose pop filter, but it didn't outperform the DiY one in any way other than aesthetics.

Once I attached the Stedman Proscreen there was an immediate difference, I could get much closer to the mic without popping than I could before, and though this is great - this is not what earned it 5 stars.

What earns this product 5 stars is the fact that I sound exactly the same with this filter in place as I do speaking directly into the mic. I didn't realize how much my old pop filters colored and muffled my voice until now. I never thought I'd say this about a windscreen or pop filter, but the Stedman Proscreen is a game-changer.
