Unerring PMC Accuracy for World-class Control Rooms
The PMC15 XBD is a 3-way, 4-driver studio reference monitor system with a dual-cabinet configuration comprising PMC’s popular PMC15 monitor and an identical cabinet loaded with an additional woofer. This formidable combination extends power handling and low-frequency headroom to deliver immense scale and impact for stereo and immersive-format monitoring in large music studio control rooms, film and TV post-production stages, mastering suites, and streaming service facilities. With its sophisticated acoustic engineering and custom state-of-the-art quad-amplification, the PMC15 XBD reveals the uncompromising truth about your recordings, delivering unflinching accuracy session after session. Due to its consistent dispersion and tonal balance, the PMC15 XBD may also be combined with smaller PMC monitors to create larger multichannel or immersive systems.

Custom drivers for uncompromised performance
The PMC15 XBD is a 3-way system with bespoke drivers — two 15-inch woofers, a 2.95-inch soft-dome midrange, and a 1.34-inch soft-dome tweeter — mounted in the company’s acclaimed ATL cabinets with LaminairX venting. The custom drivers work in tandem with ATL technology to deliver a significantly improved bass response that rivals that of many larger monitors. ATL is PMC’s proprietary bass-loading technology that extends LF response while reducing distortion, enhancing phase and frequency linearity, and optimizing SPL capability. Configured as a mirror-imaged matched pair, the PMC15 XBD provides a spacious soundfield with stunning depth, crystalline clarity, pinpoint imaging, and massive punch. Today’s music mixes and motion picture soundtracks place tremendous demands on a monitoring system in terms of dynamic range and low-frequency output, and the PMC15 XBD’s scaled-up, twin-cabinet configuration is the key to handling such program material with composure.
An optimized, high-performance system
The PMC15 XBD is quad-amplified by PMC’s next-generation master36 DSP Class D power amplifier unit, which delivers two kilowatts to each of the woofers and 800 watts each to the midrange and high-frequency drivers through a cutting-edge crossover system. The monitor is configurable directly from its rear panel or using browser-based SoundAlign2 software on a computer or tablet. For setup flexibility, the XLR input is switchable between analog and digital AES. Optional dedicated short and tall floor stands are available for PMC15 XBD systems that position them on the proper listening axis.
ATL technology delivers cleaner, deeper bass
Since its first professional studio main monitor design was embraced by the music, broadcast, and post-production industries in the early 1990s, PMC has become famous for its proprietary Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) technology. A transmission line is a method of loading a low-frequency speaker in a cabinet so that undesirable frequencies radiating from the rear of the driver are absorbed, allowing only the lowest frequencies to pass. These emerge from a front-baffle vent, which effectively acts as an auxiliary LF driver, extending bass response while absorbing undesirable low frequencies that contribute to harmonic distortion and cloud the upper bass and midrange. One of the keys to PMC speakers’ natural, highly detailed sound, ATL technology delivers deeper bass and higher output from smaller cabinets while providing rich, full sound at any listening level. And because ATL bass extension doesn’t vary with volume levels, the low end is well defined and always in balance, even when listening quietly.
LaminairX venting for superior bass timing and dynamic range
PMC’s ATL moves under-pressure air at high speeds, so reducing drag and turbulence is important for lowering resistance, increasing efficiency, and eliminating air noise. PMC’s LaminairX vent accomplishes this by using aerodynamic principles borrowed from high-performance engineering for F1 and Le Mans race cars, creating a smooth laminar airflow at the transmission line outlet. The combination of ATL and LaminairX technology results in superior bass timing and an ultra-wide dynamic range, helping PMC loudspeakers deliver a supremely natural sound and perform with complete composure at any volume.
PMC: for mixes that translate
Engineers at Sweetwater know that there’s no substitute for midrange clarity in a monitor. This is the heart of your mix, and it remains relevant regardless of the playback system. That’s why you can spend hours struggling to achieve a perfect balance and end up with nothing but frustration, listening fatigue, and a mix that doesn’t “translate.” In addition to improving bass response, PMC’s ATL technology also mitigates troublesome frequencies and eliminates port noise that can mask the midrange in other types of monitor speaker designs. As a result, you’ll find it’s easier to place, for instance, vocals and solo instruments in a mix, allowing you to achieve an ideal balance that translates to the world outside your studio and holds up well on real-world playback systems. The bottom line is that your monitors are the key to great-sounding recordings. Step up to world-class monitoring with PMC.
