A Custom Playing Experience from Day One

We drummers love to customize. The latest Mapex Falcon bass pedal offers the type of tailorability that today's players clamor for. Whether you play fast or hard (or both), the Falcon has the features to fine-tune your performance — from cool jazz to speed metal. Add beater weights for power, adjust the footboard for heel-up or heel-down applications, even swap out the Falcon's smooth chain drive for a snappy strap or direct-drive mechanism*. Wherever the music leads you, the Mapex Falcon can follow. New features include a sleeker, slimmer footboard for minimal impact on your setup and a smoother cam for maximum dynamic response. But fear not, set-and-forgetter. The Mapex Falcon bass pedal ships pre-configured from the factory for a great playing experience without tweaking.

Bottom: interchangeable drives sold separately

Evolves as your needs do

There's no part of the Mapex Falcon bass pedal that can't be configured to your tastes. Raise the footboard to find a comfortable playing angle, then adjust the beater weight and angle to hone in on your preferred level of torque and power. Each adjustment is unlocked by a single drum-key screw. Players can further adjust resistance and even swap out the chains for a strap or direct-drive mechanism*, for a playing experience that evolves as your needs do.

Hangs with the fastest feet

For fast players, the bass pedal can feel like the bottleneck in a performance. So if you need a pedal that's built for speed, the Mapex Falcon should be high on your list. Take it from Sweetwater drummers — anything lacking when you play this pedal is on you.

Responds to dynamics

The Falcon is built not just for speed, but for dynamic accuracy as well. Dynamic players will love feeling the pedal kiss the head for soft strokes and pummel it for heavier passages.

Bulks up for added power

Included with the Falcon's reversible felt/rubber beater are a set of weights in 10g increments. Weights slip inside the beater head to add force to your attack and further personalize your playing experience.

Secures safely to all bass drums

The Falcon's Self-Adjusting Hoop Clamp adjusts to fit all hoops at any angle, protecting the hoop from damage and positioning the base plate flat on the floor.

Plays great out of the box

Don't let the Mapex Falcon bass pedal's high configurability scare you away. This pedal ships pre-configured by Mapex for a great playing experience out of the box. So whether you're looking for a pedal you can pore over or a solid performer from day one, Sweetwater is happy to recommend the Mapex Falcon to our drumming friends.

Reviews

Mapex PF1000
Great product
Instructions need to be re-written.
This is one really nice pedal, once you've got it set to your preferences, which takes some time. The footboard, though, is a good length and the movable toe stop is a thoughtful addition. Its angle can easily be set with a drum key as can the beater angle. Here's where this set-up gets to be time consuming; To set the beater position, the included Allen wrench (which is black) must be used to access a tiny screw (also black) on the back of the beater holder (black as well and not easily assessable). Why is an Allen wrench even needed when a drum key used on a corresponding bolt would better serve the purpose, and the colors could be differentiated. There are no instructions for increasing/decreasing spring tension, only how to CHANGE the spring itself (I had to figure out the tension thing myself). Though the hoop clamp configuration can be figured out fairly easily, it would be nice to have a description in the instructions.
Mapex's PF1000Falcon is responsive, heel up, down or whatever. This is a winner, but Mapex needs to get their paperwork in better shape.

Tight! Needs plenty of adjusting.
I was surprised at how well packaged this is, its box is taped and stapled then wrapped with plastic straps (my guess is Mapex doesn't want the pedal to to escape). This pedal is tight, real TIGHT, and no matter how the beater is adjusted (following the enclosed directions) for me, the footboard action is too tight. The problem (which is not addressed in the directions) is the tension spring, which does not appear to have the normal way of adjusting either increased or decreased tension. So I took the whole spring assembly off, stretched out the spring a bit (with the help of a vice), and was able to decrease the tension that way. The attachment of pedal to kick drum hoop misses the hoop protector(to the left)I had installed (something the instructions should have included, but didn't). The adjustable toe stop is good to have and the size of the footboard is just right. For some odd reason my right foot has a tendency to slide off other kick drum pedals at inopportune times, but with this Mapex Falcon my foot stays put as if it's strapped on.
One important thing concerning the beater, it leaves white dust/residue on the drum head, so I now belatedly use one from a different manufacturer.
I ordered two of these pedals, the second one I've not opened (I told my wife to slap a bow on it and give it to me for Christmas).
