12-inch Snare Pad with Tunable Mesh Head

The Roland V-Drums PDX-12 facilitates lifelike snare performance — realistic buzz rolls, rimshots, cross-sticks, and more — without altering the way you play. Its 12-inch size makes a smooth transition from kit-sized snares. And its tunable 2-ply mesh head lets players tweak how much rebound they prefer — soft and pillowy to tight and precise. Paired with the latest Roland V-Drums sound modules (sold separately), the PDX-12 really takes shape, allowing players to model muffling, tuning, and strainer tension for a completely custom playing experience. This snare's smart dual-trigger system picks up sound accurately across the entire expanse of the drum, head to hoop. If you're looking to get more out of your V-Drums setup, then consider the Roland V-Drums PDX-12 from Sweetwater.

Reviews

Very nice pad
Bought a used TD-25 kit with a PDX-100 10 inch snare pad. Added this pad as the snare drum. Very big upgrade! This 12 inch pad has much more real estate. The positional sensing is real... You can hear it. Very responsive.... Very happy with my purchase. A little pricey but worth it in my opinion. My Sweetwater sales engineer was integral in getting this purchase done.

I like the size, response and feel of the mesh head. It's easy to attach and sounds good.

PDX-12 just the perfect size
This snare drum came as part of my TD17 kit. Sizing is perfect....the usual small targets provided by electronic kits require some mental adjustment when moving to and from acoustic kits....so having a snare this size is very helpful as the size helps bridge that gap. Also I use it as the snare attached to rack based Octapad kit (talk about small targets haha)....Note-the Octapad external pad settings do not explicitly support this particular pad, so I have settings set to PDX8 and it sounds fine.

Very happy with it, given the use-case
Several months ago I acquired a DIY electronic drum kit from our church (they purchased a full Roland rig). I rebuilt most of the center-mount triggers and was pretty happy to start building my chops back up. But the one thing that annoyed me was not having the fine response that a professionally-built snare trigger should give me--flams, drum rolls, dynamics. Augmenting my rig with the PDX-12 was the right move. For a very reasonable price I've not only been able to play more accurately, but with the rim trigger I was able to free up another trigger I was using for rim shots and cross-sticking. I'm still fine-tuning the parameters (since I was using a DIY triggered snare before), but I couldn't be happier.

Great snare, great job by Jeff Bohan my sales rep!

Simply put, modern electronic music wouldn't exist without Roland. Many of the electronic musicians here at Sweetwater cut our teeth on TR Rhythm machines and fondly remember programming our first TB-303s. We owe a good part of our careers to this amazing and innovative company. It's been fun to watch and grow right alongside Roland, as they've introduced wave after wave of revolutionary keyboards, digital pianos, and more. For example, Roland's V-Drum Kits continuously redefine the possibilities of electronic drums, beginning with SuperNATURAL technology to the latest Prismatic Sound Modeling. We're huge fans, and we'd love to tell you all about them. Whether you want a pocket-sized synth or a cutting-edge video mixer, if Roland makes it, then Sweetwater is 100% behind it.
