Iconic Fender Sound Tailored to Today’s Bassists

The Fender Precision Bass has stood the test of time for a plethora of reasons, among them its comfortable contours, speedy neck design, and ability to dish out roof-lifting thunder. Now, Fender brings all the classic features of the beloved Precision Bass to a modern incarnation with the Player II Precision Bass. The Player II iteration boasts an alder body, a maple neck with a Modern “C” profile, and a maple fingerboard, equating to a solid foundation for smooth grooves on any song you choose. A Player series Alnico V split single-coil Precision Bass pickup is responsible for the colossal lows and sweet highs of this bass’s sound. The Player II P Bass is available in timeless Fender finishes, in addition to some never-before-seen colors released from the vault. Iconic Fender sound — that’s precisely why Sweetwater knows you’ll rock with the Player II Precision Bass.

Designed II endure

It’s amazing to think that a bass that got its first start in the 1950s has endured with such unwavering support. That’s what happens when you design one of the most functional and powerful bass guitars and produce it with consistent quality across the decades. The Fender Player II Precision Bass pays homage to its storied past and brings its capabilities to a contemporary performance quality that can withstand the requirements of modern-day players. Aspects such as its alder body with comfortable contours still offer bassists that same tight and comfortable feel. Meanwhile, a Modern “C” maple neck and a maple fingerboard with 9.5-inch radius narrow down its smooth playability for contemporary bassists. Plus, with a slew of hardware, including a synthetic bone nut, standard open-gear tuners, and a 4-saddle standard bridge, the Fender Player II P Bass will hold down the low end in grand style!

Primed for punch

The Player II Precision Bass can move and groove with any bass line. The P Bass is well known for punchy, growling tone, and the Player II P Bass is poised for more of the same! Thanks to a Player series Alnico V Split Single-coil Precision Bass pickup, you’ll reel in sweet highs, musical mids, and thunderous lows. So hop up on that stage, plug in your Player II Precision Bass, and get ready to revel in the boisterous sound of one of music’s most versatile bass guitars.

Fender Player II Precision Bass Features:

  • Iconic Fender P Bass sound and playability with contemporary updates
  • Maple neck with Modern “C” carve plays fast and fluid
  • Synthetic bone nut and 4-saddle standard bridge hold down the intonation
  • Standard open-gear tuners and vintage-style disc string tree provide stylish functionality

Reviews

Quality P-Bass
This Player II series by Fender is really an upgrade from the Player series. I did have a Player Precision so I can compare. The most noticeable difference as far as feel is the neck. Easy to move all over & the rolled edges of the Player II are smooth & an improvement. If you have any other basses, this one will call out to be played. The pickup sounds more present & gives you that nice Precision bass tone that everyone loves. Easy to set up with the tools it comes with, although the out-of-the-box setup is decent. Buy with confidence.
Needed work out of the box
I hadn't owned a Fender bass in years. When they added the rolled fingerboard edges to this model I bit. Out of the box the fit and finish was very good It was pretty well set up properly. The action, though a little high was passable. The pickup height was right on Fender spec. The intonation was right on. It had a curious vibration when the open E was played open, almost like a tuner or the truss rod was vibrating. I'd been through this before. The slot for the E string was improperly cut. I had to increase the downward angle of the back of the nut so the string would seat properly. Also, the neck alignment to the body was off causing the strings to be closer to the treble side of the neck. Looking at it from the front all the strings were visibly over to the treble side of the neck by a pretty good bit. I had to loosen the strings and all 4 neck bolts and physically pull the neck over to the E string side and re-tighten the neck. Neither problem was earth shattering but not expected on a brand new instrument. Other than that it's a nice bass. Good sound. Plays well. Well balanced and not to heavy. Fender could tighten up on their QC a bit.
