Almighty Low-end Punch

The Squier Contemporary Active Precision Bass brings you the classic heart-pumping thunder that enthralls audiences and adds glorious low-end to recordings. This bass comes equipped with a resonant poplar body and sports an easy playing roasted maple neck and Indian laurel fingerboard. Eyeing those pickups? This Squier’s tone bursts forth from a SQR ceramic humbucker and split single-coil cocktail that weaves through a myriad of differing tonal fields. Explore your desired tones with the blend, tone, and bass/treble boost knobs. Take it from bassists at Sweetwater, this Precision Bass is a sweet deal for that almighty low-end thump!

Pickups deliver a wide-ranging tonal cocktail

This dapper P Bass delivers a wide range of tone shaping capabilities making its sound versatile and flexible. Take a listen to its Squier SQR ceramic humbucker for punchy lows and clear, articulate highs. It's SQR split single-coil on the other hand offers up biting tone worthy of humbucker territory while keeping it crisp and bright under the single-coil's shining output. And with the addition of active electronics, you've got the potential to shape your tone for any mix. The Contemporary Active Precision Bass features controls for master volume, pickup blend, master tone, and bass/treble boost.

Modern bridge maximizes your tone

You'll notice that the Contemporary Active Precision Bass boasts impressive resonance and sustain, and a big part of that is its redesigned bridge. And not only does this bridge maximize resonance and tone, it's also easier to restring and allows for precise intonation.

Slim "C"-shaped neck and 12-inch fretboard radius

While the feel of a bass guitar's neck is a matter of personal preference for any musician, many players at Sweetwater like the feel of the Contemporary Active Precision Bass's slim "C"-shaped neck profile. Topped with a 12-inch-radius fretboard, it offers easy playability and a fast, slim feel.

Squier Contemporary Active Precision Bass Features:

  • 5-string electric bass guitar with resonant poplar body
  • SQR ceramic humbucking pickup in the bridge for punchy lows, clear highs, and high-output tone
  • SQR split single-coil in the neck for crisp clarity and beefy tone
  • Active electronics with controls for master volume, pickup blend, master tone, and bass/treble boost
  • Modern bridge enhances resonance and makes restringing easier

Love this bass so much I’m buying another one to modify

I purchased mine in May. It has been my main at home practice bass since. (I will probably always use my Lakland's for preformance) I have always wanted a Fender Precision with a humbucker in the bridge position and this bass delivers. Unfortunately Fender doesn't make them anymore and they are hard to find. I will be ordering another one immediately after this review to upgrade the preamp and pickups with Aguilar components. I can play any bass on the market and prefer Squire's because of the quality and value built in and if something happens at a gig not a lot of money is at risk. Love Sweetwater and have purchased multiple basses from them.

Best value 5 string!!

I stopped in to see my rep Devin Cunningham on my last trip to Indiana, and they had one of these on the wall. I plugged it into a small Fender rumble amp. Wow!! I was not intending on buying anything but the tone and playability blew me away. I've used it several times since for service down here and always get rave reviews. If you are looking to add to your arsenal or just to add a 5 string.. just do it! I can't recommend this highly enough.

Talk about bang for Buck!

This is a very solid and playable bass. Has the classic P sound plus a humbucker which adds another tone option.

Love the neck, classic Fender shape and feel. Roasting makes this thing very consistent up and down the fretboard. No dead spots!

That is an aluminum pickguard too. To top it off, the sick chrome logo on the headstock is sexy as heck!

Solid built great price

This is my first Squire and it did not disappoint. Built solid. Battery compartment is cheap and hard to reach wires for changing battery, but it does sound good. I use it with active turned all the way down and just the p-bass pickup. Really good sounding B string.
Music background: Touring bassist for Jag Panzer

So far so great!

Loving this bass. The look and the feel are great for the price. The neck is a thing of beauty.
