The Yamaha Pacifica Takes Center Stage

Introduced in 1990, Yamaha’s Pacifica solidbody electric guitars gained instant worldwide popularity thanks to their outstanding quality and value. Indeed, with its smooth playability and sonic versatility, it didn’t take long for the Pacifica to become a stalwart on the LA session scene. Now, Sweetwater is excited to present Yamaha’s high-end line of Pacificas designed by Yamaha Japan in partnership with Yamaha Artist Services in Hollywood. Featuring lightweight, resonant chambered bodies, top-shelf hardware, and powerful pickups developed by Rupert Neve Designs, these guitars raise the bar for performance and sound while retaining the series’ renowned affordability. Spec’d with Rupert Neve Reflectone pickups in an HSS configuration, the Yamaha Standard Plus PACS+12 Pacifica serves up the fat, snarling lead tones and shimmering cleans evocative of coveted vintage humbuckers and single-coils.

Reflectone pickups: unrivaled sonic performance

Leveraging decades of engineering expertise and deep research into what makes prized vintage pickups sound the way they do, Rupert Neve Designs Reflectone pickups represent the state of the art in guitar pickup design. With their strong low frequencies, sparkling highs, and remarkable dynamic sensitivity, Reflectone pickups capture every expressive nuance in your playing and deliver it to your audience with crystal clarity. Incorporating windings with a meticulously controlled gap between wires, Reflectones feature a bright and effervescent top end. The front and back sides of each pickup are magnetized with a specified flux density to produce a clearer, louder, and more articulate sound with an optimal balance of saturation and output gain. Scrupulous attention is paid to quality control, with critical factors such as coil wire tension, magnetization strength, and peak frequency levels strictly managed for unit-to-unit consistency during mass production. The bottom line? Your Yamaha PACS+12 Pacifica delivers sonic performance unmatched by any other electric guitar.

About Rupert Neve Designs

For guitarists unfamiliar with Rupert Neve Designs, it is the company founded by legendary console designer Rupert Neve. Rupert’s 80-series consoles had a huge, punchy, and authoritative sound that defined ’70s rock. From London to New York to Los Angeles and beyond, top studios installed Neve boards as fast as they could. By 1977, with the introduction of the NECAM automation system, Neve consoles were the main component of the success formula for any recording studio with world-class aspirations. Today, Rupert Neve Designs continues to advance the state of the art with cutting-edge products that sound incredible and intelligently address the challenges of the digital age. RND’s collaboration with Yamaha on the Reflectone pickups is a game-changer. While the merits of various pickup designs have traditionally been a bone of contention among discerning electric guitarists, Reflectone single-coil, humbucking, and P-90 pickups put that debate to rest.

Premium materials for a superior guitar

Premium tonewoods and hardware are used throughout the Yamaha PACS+12 Pacifica. The sleekly contoured alder body is strategically chambered for lighter weight and enhanced resonance, making it one of the most comfortable solidbody electric guitars we’ve ever had the pleasure of playing. The profile of the bolt-on maple neck — a Pacifica hallmark — facilitates speedy navigation across all registers. A top-quality Gotoh vibrato bridge/tailpiece, a TUSQ nut, and Gotoh locking tuners ensure your Pacifica remains in tune during marathon sets, even with vigorous use of the whammy bar. Precision crafted by Yamaha luthiers, the PACS+12 boasts robust build quality that will withstand years of rigorous professional touring. Finally, Yamaha Pacifica models are available in a selection of dazzling finishes with your choice of maple or rosewood fingerboards.

Reviews

Great guitar
These pick ups are phenomenal. The highs are bell like, clear, great tone, cuts through live beautifully. The coil split on the bridge humbucker has a great tone, split or not. Craftsmanship is top notch. Best guitar at this or any price
