The Japanese-made Peak of the SC Professional Lineup

Crafted to superior standards by Yamaha’s Japanese luthiers, the Yamaha PACP11 Pacifica SC Professional raises the bar on T-style performance, playability, and tone. Every element of this superb 6-string has been optimized for modern guitarists, from the 2-piece alder body’s precision Acoustic Design chambering, contoured heel, and I.R.A. treatment to the compound-radius fingerboard’s hard-wearing stainless steel frets. A versatile HS configuration of Reflectone pickups — developed in conjunction with Rupert Neve Designs — delivers a one-two punch of full-range humbucking heft and supercharged single-coil twang with a defined and dynamic edge. In addition, a Focus switch further expands your tonal possibilities by mimicking the sound of a high-power overwound pickup. You also get a world-class set of Gotoh hardware to keep your setup stable, including a modernized ashtray-style bridge with intonation-enhancing compensated saddles and locking tuners. Capped off with a speedy satin-finished maple neck in a comfortable C profile, the Yamaha Pacifica SC Professional represents the dictionary definition of a do-it-all T-style guitar.

Reflectone pickups: unrivaled sonic performance

Leveraging decades of engineering expertise and deep research into what makes prized vintage pickups sound the way they do, Rupert Neve Designs Reflectone pickups represent the state of the art in guitar pickup design. With their strong low frequencies, sparkling highs, and remarkable dynamic sensitivity, Reflectone pickups capture every expressive nuance in your playing and deliver it to your audience with crystal clarity.

The Yamaha SC Professional utilizes two of these cutting-edge pickups, offering a modernized spin on the time-tested HS T-style configuration. In the neck position, a Reflectone EH7n provides you with a full, rich, and dynamic palette of dual-coil tones to paint with. Meanwhile, the bridge-position HT7b single-coil covers everything from retro twang to shimmering modern textures. To seal the deal, the SC Professional's Focus switch rounds over your signal’s treble while simultaneously boosting midrange and low end, sharpening up your tone with the bite of an overwound pickup.

About Rupert Neve Designs

For guitarists unfamiliar with Rupert Neve Designs, it is the company founded by legendary console designer Rupert Neve. Rupert’s 80-series consoles had a huge, punchy, and authoritative sound that defined ’70s rock. From London to New York to Los Angeles and beyond, top studios installed Neve boards as fast as they could. By 1977, with the introduction of the NECAM automation system, Neve consoles were the main component of the success formula for any recording studio with world-class aspirations. Today, Rupert Neve Designs continues to advance the state of the art with cutting-edge products that sound incredible and intelligently address the challenges of the digital age. RND’s collaboration with Yamaha on the Reflectone pickups is a game-changer. While the merits of various pickup designs have traditionally been a bone of contention among discerning electric guitarists, Reflectone single-coil, humbucking, and P-90 pickups put that debate to rest.

Superior playability for the modern guitarist

You’d be hard-pressed to find a faster-playing T-style guitar than the Yamaha Pacifica SC Professional. This high-speed solidbody wields a C-shaped maple neck with a sleek satin finish, topped off with a compound-radius fingerboard to ensure both comfortable low-position chording and smooth, buzz-out-free bends up high. You get 22 medium-jumbo stainless steel frets to further bolster your playing experience with their slick surface and hard-wearing durability. Sling up the Yamaha Pacifica SC Professional onstage or in the studio to understand why Yamaha’s Japanese-made Pacificas hold a nigh-legendary status among Sweetwater’s technique-heavy players.

Reviews

I Give It an "A"
Honestly, this is an awesome guitar. Played almost perfect out of the box; although, I brought the action down a tad, and it still didn't buzz. It is really well-constructed. As much as I hate to say it, it makes my American Pro II Tele seem inferior. I realize that so many of us buy by brand (myself included), but I am SO glad I gave this one a chance. If I'm honest, I bought it because I love the color (I'm a lover of orange). But this has become my main guitar. The workmanship is impeccable, and I love the sound of the "focus switch," which, to my ear, gives the bridge pickup a more humbucker-esque tone ideal for overdriven leads. And the bridge pickup without the focus switch engaged sounds very traditional. This is a very versatile, great-playing Tele-style guitar. I will look towards Yamaha again for my next guitar purchase. My sales advisor, David, was awesome!
