Reviews

Solid & Simple Double Pedals
At my age, these should be the last pedals I need to buy, but I wish I could have swung them when they first came out. First off, as with anything that is subject to our differing g levels human input, I personally do not see me slamming through springs and direct drive connection joints. I went back and forth with Shawn Fitzgerald, my sales representative over the plusses and minuses of these versus the Demon Drive. It came down to a very simple decision for me. The XRs had everything I was looking for and none of the stuff that might have tripped me up down the road. A fast, comfortable workhorse pedal with the minimalist amount of necessary adjustments and nothing to go wrong or come loose in the middle of a session. The footboards are fantastic, smooth and big enough for my size 13 rear paws. I found there to be no learning curve with regards to the direct drive compared to the single chain units I was using for years. I did quickly figure out that I would probably cry if I had to go back.
I have made it a goal to really get used to the factory settings on spring tension, and I thought, after seeing those monstrous springs that my legs were going g to ache after 5 minutes. But everything seems to work in unison and effortlessly at the out of box settings for me.
I will mention that the only thing I changed was the beaters, but I did give the Pearl beaters a week's worth of playing. They are great, weighted perfectly and pack a punch. Why did I change them out? Because I am using these on a Roland KD 140 kick drum pad with a patch on the mesh head, I prefer the feel of the rounded felt beater head choice on my DW Control beaters. My wife prefers the noise they make to the solid nylon too. With all the weights in, the throw and weight is on par with the Pearl beaters, but the interchangeable heads and the self leveling beater heads are hard to give up.
That said, if you are looking for a pedal or set of pedals that really react well underfoot (honestly, not just for metal!), I believe this model will more than make you happy. If you, on the other hand, love to dial in settings and minute differences on a variety of pedal functions, there are others to consider. Straight forward, hard to mess up on set up, hard or soft hitting based what you tell it to do with your patinas and fantastic gigging case, makes them a great splurge purchase for a retiree in a fixed income (priorities, right?). I will also be very honest, on a level only a drummer can understand, they really do look great too! Vet happy, and thanks for the direction and discussion, Shawn!
Music background: Drumming for fun since childhood.
The best out there
I can't believe this pedal got given such low rating. based on my experience I can tell you in just a couple weeks my bass pedal skills have improved. I'm coming from the DW9002 and I will not look back. These pedals are on a different category. You should definitely try them, you'll thank me later.

Ridiculously good
I went from an Offset double pedal to the Demon. My double bass accuracy improved like magic. Even the feel is great. I do not tire as fast. I recommend.
updare
I ran these pedals for couple weeks now.I didn't want to do any mods right away.Out side of a tiny sprig adjustment I ran them out of the box.I loved them but I'm never satisfied.I usually switch all my factory beaters out to the deadblows by trick. So I threw some on.For me it's a world of difference. The weight and shape of the head allow me to control those heavy springs so much more. Also forgot to thank my salesman James Holk
Great pedals
It was a little bit of a learning curve going from chain to direct drive.Once I trained on it for a while my muscles got used to it and I have more control and speed then ever.
