Mix with Confidence — Every Detail, Every Decision

Who says that an honest nearfield needs to sound bad? Certainly not Amphion. Take the One15, for example. While extremely pleasant to listen to, this brutally truthful passive studio monitor tells it like it is, from its hyper-accurate transient response to its well-balanced low end, enabling you to make well-informed mix decisions. Additionally, thanks to an optimized 1.6kHz crossover, you’ll find the One15’s phase coherence and imaging to be absolutely spot on, nearly on par with a point-source design, ensuring your mixes translate flawlessly to myriad playback scenarios, from smartphone speakers to high-powered club systems. Moreover, the One15’s high-density Corian waveguide aligns the voice coils of its drivers, yielding industry-leading timing properties you’ll hear immediately upon first listen. Beyond that, the One15 eschews inferior reflex-port configurations for a meticulously tuned passive radiator, supplying you with even, natural low-frequency performance you’ll be confident to stake your reputation on. Finally, the One15’s even dispersion gives you consistent sound within a generous sweet spot, even at lower listening volumes. Flaunting a pure analog signal path with zero digital processing, the Amphion One15 delivers uncompromising clarity and natural detail, giving you the confidence to trust every mix decision you make.

Uniform dispersion meets time-aligned performance

Like all the Amphion monitors we stock here at Sweetwater, the One15 features a precision-engineered, fifth-generation waveguide crafted from high-density Corian. This advanced design enhances the tweeter’s coupling with air, enabling it to reach down to the 1.6kHz crossover point while delivering exceptionally uniform dispersion across a wide frequency range. Moreover, by physically aligning the drivers, the waveguide dramatically improves time and phase coherence, resulting in a rock-solid phantom center, razor-sharp imaging, and an expansive sweet spot.

Point-source precision with no audible crossover point

Driver integration is one of the greatest challenges in loudspeaker design. The goal is to achieve a single point where the acoustical centers of the driver combination can work together perfectly, just like what happens in real life. If you want to combine two different audio signals as seamlessly as possible, doesn’t it make sense to place the seam outside the most sensitive areas of the hearing range? Human hearing is not linear. The ear’s sensitivity is highest inside the critical middle of the hearing range, generally located between 2kHz and 50kHz. Employing an unconventionally low crossover point allows the use of drivers with the lowest possible moving mass in the range where the ear is most sensitive, resulting in an unprecedented amount of midrange clarity and depth and a single point source/phantom center image typically reserved for coaxial designs.

The science behind Amphion’s sealed design

A ported box always has uncontrolled pressure changes and turbulence inside the cabinet, which lead to decreased resolution — especially in the midrange — preventing a balanced audio signal from being reproduced optimally. The One15’s sealed cabinet design results in a dramatic improvement in midrange resolution and bass accuracy while also loading the room in a more controlled and predictable manner. Essentially a speaker cone, surround, and basket without the motor, Amphion’s rear-mounted passive radiator moves in perfect synchronization with the front woofer, ensuring that the distance from the front of the cabinet to the rear remains constant and that the balance of air in the cabinet is maintained. This results in a much tighter, even response in the low end of the spectrum, ensuring more accurate translation to nearly any playback system. A passive radiator is not the same as a rear port and is less sensitive to placement near a rear wall.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner
I'd rate this 11/10 if I could.

Gave 4.5/5 since I ordered a like new demo pair that should've been marked used instead of demo. Not sure what happened. The corners were impacted during shipping possibly. Sweetwater is making it right however as we speak. Highly recommended regardless. I placed them onto the stands and got to try them before shipping them back for a replacement pair.

These speakers are so overhyped on the Amphion Beautiful thread via Gearspace. So I told myself to not believe the hype, order a pair, and just try it out for myself. If it doesn't live up to my expectations or needs, I'd be returning them completely. I've been frustrated and fatigued with my mix cube and krk v6 combo. I generally think that pair is pretty great for home studio and my ears had adjusted to them so they translate decently now, however it took a lot of learning after coming from Yamaha hs5 that I was used to. I switch between a full range with Kirk sub 10in + v6 pair and mix cube as a midrange check. They served me well until now.........and NOW....Day 1 for Ampions, I got straight to mixing and was hyped about them for the first couple hours of working. After that, they sort of just disappeared and I forgot about that I was working on a brand new set. I spent the rest of the day working on projects in the queue....Next day, I check the mix on my phone and it sounds great! This is never happens on the first go. Imagine things will only get better from here. I believe it. Great translation.

If you are poor at getting tones, these speakers won't cure that - but they are honest. So if you trust your own taste, this Amphion One15 Pair will allow you to execute your vision through sounds...as you hear it in your head....as long as you hear it yourself, you can use this pair to help you along the journey.

Here is my favorite quote, posted 2018 by "Doc Mixwell":
I would say, these ONE15 have a really "opaque" invisibility to them...Extremely holographic. Open like an envelope with money in it. The wide center image has me intrigued.

I'm not doing much to tame the hype, but I like them so much that it's got me wondering what the two18 are like. Superb.
A friend told me these are fatiguing in comparison with PMC and ATC. These are definitely not fatiguing, but rich and honest in the midrange. I'm guessing their mix was fatiguing and these probably just did a good job of telling them so, rather than a feature of the speakers eq curve.

ALSO: These work better in untreated spaces more than any other speaker I've tried and will only improve after treatment. I would also check out the Amnion One12 if you find yourself in a tight space. I've paired this with the Behringer A800 and it works pretty well together. Good budget option.

BELIEVE THE HYPE!
Just decided to upgrade my monitors recently to the Amphion One15 pair as my Yamaha HS8s were too fatiguing and it was getting frustrating having to take so many breaks when mixing. These things are insane. It is truly mind-boggling how much low end comes out of these tiny speakers! Completely got rid of my subwoofer because I can accurately hear down to about 50hz on these bad boys! The overall clarity is outstanding. I"m hearing things in songs that I"ve never heard before. What used to get lost in the mush of traditional speakers can now be accurately pinpointed. Whether it be a quiet synth in the mix following the melody in a pop song, or just a weird reverb effect in the background, the One15s will show you exactly what is going on! They"re like a pair of sonic microscopes! Don"t think, just buy them!

Outstanding
One15's are an amazing tool for mix translation. I have never worked on any other speaker where what I make sound great in the studio translates so well everywhere else.

They are not capable of really loud playback, they are a mixing tool, meant for making decisions. If you need to run them loud, you'll want to add a sub, as the woofer will be the weakest link.

Honestly at this price they are one of the best values on the market. I have worked on lots of high end monitors such as ATC, Barefoot, Focal, etc to the old classics like NS10's . Some may sound more impressive than the Amphions, but they don't translate as well.

If you are looking for a really useful tool that will save you time and get you great results, this is the ticket. A nice bonus is that they are 1/5th of the price of the ATC's that I also really liked.

WIN!

UNREAL sound. Crystal clear.
Incredible, beautiful, transparent, highly imaged, detailed sound. Everything else sounds like mud, now. I need more power, so I might get a sub, or go one notch up in size. I like it loud and detailed, but softer, these don't lie.

Very Nice
Bought a pair with a 100w amp. Had improved acoustic treatment in my room with good results and replacing the mackie nearfields I had with these was a dramatic improvement again. They give better test results particularly in low mids but also noticeable improvements over 6k. I also notice they give better depth perception and seem to improve my ability to dial in a mix as the mixes are more accurate when I check them for translation in other locations. One thing in particular that I'm very pleased with is that I was checking them using some of my own typical reference mixes and was able to hear things I never noticed before. One that comes to mind is a particular delay throw on a guitar duet that I've been using as a reference track for about 20 years. The only downside is the cost.

I have used these Amphion speakers in my acoustically treated studio and they have quickly become my favorite speaker. I've been mastering for eight years now and engineering for over 20 years, and these are the best speakers that I've ever heard. I love the clarity of these Amphions, the phase response is the best of any speaker I've ever tested in my studio. It has never been so easy for me to hear what needs to be done with a mix to make it sound great! Do yourself a favor and get these speakers with the Amp 100 and the speaker cables, they are a big part of why I love this speaker system.
