A No-frills Gateway to Classic Marshall Tone

Packed with a generous complement of tubes, the Origin ORI50H exhibits vintage-inspired Marshall tone. This amp is powerful in its simplicity. Dial in the Gain and Master controls to get the right amount of crunch, then shape your tone with the Presence knob and the 3-band EQ. A unique Tilt control blends bright and normal sounds, while switchable power enables high-output sounds at any volume. A built-in FX loop makes integrating your pedalboard a breeze. There's even a footswitchable gain boost for adding extra punch to your solos. The Origin ORI50H is a no-frills gateway to classic Marshall tone.

From the music store to stages everywhere

Jim Marshall didn't start out building great amps. In fact, his entry into the amp world came about in part because the drummers that visited his music shop for equipment and lessons often brought along their guitar players. Conversations about their amplification needs led to the birth of a line of amps that would eventually change the sound of music. From those first humble creations to Pete Townshend's first monster full stacks; from the mid-'60s combos to Hendrix to backlines of multiple Marshall rigs, there's a reason why so many guitarists (including quite a few here at Sweetwater) swear by Marshall amps. Try one out and see for yourself!

Marshall Origin ORI50H Features:

  • Packed with 3 ECC83 preamp tubes and 2 EL34 power tubes
  • Separate Gain and Master controls for dialing in the right amount of crunch
  • Presence knob and 3-band EQ for shaping your tone

Reviews

Marshall Origin 50 Simply fantastic!
I've owned 3 of these amps and they are a perfect pedal platform. I use the Boss ME90 through them and they sound incredible. It's not an amp that has gobs of fuzzy preamp gain. It's top gain could be compared to a AC/DC Malcolm Young sound (which is great!) This 50 watt head is very loud. I've used Marshall MKII and JCM900 amps and this ampp keeps up, no problem.
Music background: Lige long musician
Very impressed.
It's a great amp, but you will need to have some type of pedals to make it sound good.
TONE!!’
This head punches well above its price. Great tone, and LOUD AS ****!!!'
Marshall ORI50H Origin 50-watt Tube Head
This amp is killer! I use an attenuator at home in order to max everything out, and it sounds great. It is also a great pedal platform. Keep in mind for the effects loop to work, you need to have the pedal (which is included) plugged into the amp. Can't go wrong here.
The ULTIMATE in versatility
I've now had the Origin 50 head and matching vertical 2x12 cab for several months. I'm in love with this amp! No matter what Guitar or pedal combinations I use, it never fails to satisfy and, dare I say, exceed my expectations. I've been playing for 30+ years, have over 40 guitars, 16 amps, and several multieffects units, and pedals in my collection. I've experimented with different guitars, effects, and cabinets with the Origin head and I have found that it delivers that amazing tone on all fronts. It's a VERY loud amp, even on the lowest attenuation setting (sounds best when it's cranked up above 50% on Master). Perfect for recording and performance! Each knob has a quite impressive range of shaping capability. The Marshall Origin goes from clean to mean and everything in between. If you find yourself wantin more gain, use a dirt pedal in front - it loves all flavors of boost, overdrive, distortion, and fuzz! I personally like to set it up to just beyond the edge of breakup, with some definite hairiness, and utilize several dirt pedals (Tube Screamer, Soul Food, Friedman BE-OD Deluxe, MXR Slash octave fuzz) for any flavor of cascading gain stages; likewise I can achieve the pushed cleans that I prefer by simply rolling back the volume pot on my Guitar. The Origin 50 is a phenomenal single channel master volume amp that offers amazing versatility way beyond it's budget conscious price point! I can't sing it's praises enough. The switchable effects loop performs flawlessly for added modulation, delay, and reverb or for bypassing the Marshall preamp while adding the EL34 power tube voicing to your favorite modeling gear. It sounds amazing when I plug my guitar into the Orange Terror Stamp and from stamp effects send to Origin return for an all tube Dark Terror voicing! If you want a versatile, all tube workhorse of an amp, the Origin simply can't be beat! If you need something for playing at low volumes, you should look at something else; but if loud and proud is your M.O., I can't recommend anything else over this amazing amp.
Music background: 32 years experience playing the local circuits, as well as occasionally touring the Continental U.S. with several almost made it bands

There are countless "British"-style guitar amplifiers out there, but take it from the lifelong guitarists and tone connoisseurs at Sweetwater, when it comes to Marshall tone, there's nothing like the real thing. We've played them all, from vintage JTM45s and the ultra-cool Plexi reissue to modern handmade masterpieces such as the JVM410. There isn't a model among them we can't recommend with total confidence, and that includes their more affordable models too, like MG, DSL, and Code series amps. Thanks to our tight relationship with Marshall, Sweetwater's always on the cutting edge of their latest designs, custom models, and limited-edition gems. If you want iconic tone from across the pond, you want Marshall, and your Sweetwater Sales Engineer will help you find the perfect one.
