Reviews

They are incredible to check the midrange, expecially the right balance of the voice!
This sounds good, what I expected, perfect for adapting to new trends! Mixing in MONO, definitely a great edit for my monitoring chain.

Red color matches well, very beautiful!
I’m impressed. It’s intuitive.
- I don't leave reviews for gear often, but I had to for this. I usually have a pretty open mind when it comes to audio engineering and different techniques and gear. One of the main reason I bought this was because the mixcube shares a very similar philosophy to the Yamaha NS10. The saying goes: " if you make it sound right on the NS10s, it will translate everywhere." -

The review:

So I plug it in and my first impression was that it was "weird" sounding. A bit awful at first. Barely any lows below I'd say 200hz, and not a lot of highs maybe up to 8-10khz or so.

I kept my hopes high and I listened to some tracks I'm familiar with, didn't think much about it, and went straight ahead into Pro Tools to open up a mix I was working on a couple days ago.

This cube was very intuitive for me. Told me straight away that my vocals were balanced off in the mix and it wasn't blending well with guitars, and other midrange instruments. I realized my snare needed more compression, and I removed my drum bus compressor off because it was squeezing out too much life out of the transients.

I put my headphones on and it just translated so right for me. Everything open up beautifully in the midrange.

My only downside to it is that I wish it had a bit more low end.

Other than that, I highly recommend this if you're into mixing and need a magnifying class for your midrange.
