Versatile Bass Preamp Pedal for Stage or Studio

The Darkglass Microtubes X7 bass preamp pedal nails the recipe for powerful distorted bass that maintains low-end impact. The key to punchy distorted bass is allowing your mids and highs to provide the harmonic drive, while leaving your low fundamentals firm and undistorted. The Microtubes X7 pedal achieves this by splitting your signal to two variable filters before the gain stage, so you can shape your own unique drive tone with just the right combination of boom and bite. Complete with a 4-band graphic EQ for perfecting your midrange character, the Darkglass Microtube X7 bass preamp pedal delivers powerful, tight, defined tones with any bass.

Shape your tone with two variable filters

Before driving your tone, the Darkglass Microtubes X7 bass preamp splits your signal in two and filters each. A variable lowpass filter lets you choose how much of your signal remains clean and punchy, while a highpass filter determines how much of your tone will be sent through the drive circuit. Individual level controls for each signal path allow you to balance each to your liking.

4-band graphic EQ holds your bass in the mix

Bassists at Sweetwater that play a lot of different styles appreciate the flexibility of the 4-band graphic EQ on the Darkglass Microtubes X7 pedal. Regardless of how many guitars, keyboards, and vocalists you're working with, you have the ability to dial in just the right midrange character to sit well in the mix. You have high- and low-shelving bands, plus sliders for 500Hz and 1kHz. A master level slider allows you to compensate for extreme boosts or cuts.

Routing flexibility for stage and studio

The Darkglass Microtubes X7 is equipped with three outputs in total. A standard 1/4" output is ready to connect to your effects pedals or bass amplifier. An XLR direct output allows you to go direct to a mic preamp, mixing console, or recording interface. And the parallel output is available for splitting your signal to a separate destination from the main output.

Darkglass Microtubes X7 Bass Preamp Pedal Features:

  • Bass preamp and overdrive pedal
  • Direct output and parallel output for flexible routing options
  • Splits your signal to 2 variable filters for tone shaping
  • Lowpass-filtered signal remains clean for maximum punch and fundamental impact
  • Highpass-filtered signal goes to the drive circuit for adding harmonic saturation
  • Level controls for high and low filters allow you to create your ideal sonic combination
  • 4-band graphic EQ with high- and low-shelving bands, 500Hz band, 1kHz band, and master level control

Reviews

It’s a great pedal.
I feel the pedal gives everything that you'd want for a killer bass tone. I play a lot of hard rock/metal and it just floors me and most people who hear it.
Not just a djent pedal
This thing is seriously versatile and it's a shame that it is so heavily advertised to a certain crowd. This pedal allows you to conjure all kinds of heavy sounds, from the militaristic grinding of Revenge to the tight, nasty tones of Erra, and even the smooth and articulate textures of Gorguts and Krallice. It ain't cheap, but it's worth it for a metal bassist looking for a good all rounder.

Unreal Pedal
This pedal is so unreal I can't even believe it exits. Not much more one can say that can add to all the reviews on thing, but I will offer this:
I had the Sans XB and it's incredible but way too "knob busy" for me. With this thing, you can set your mids, give it your general EQ, and then just play with the top knobs on the fly. With just those 4 knobs you can change your tones drastically in a split second with nearly no thinking required. Exactly what I was looking for. Give it a week and you'll know exactly where you want to throw those knobs on the fly. And of course you can play with all the rest to really dial things in. Especially if you back the drive down - then you are in an entirely other orbit this pedal can cover.
This is probably the coolest, best sounding, highest quality pedal on the market for this purpose. Nothing can beat it IMO. It's a little pricey, but I can honestly say I would have paid more. Buy it.
Excellent pedal!
I like the bright, chunky tones it gives me with or without distortion. They make some great pedals!

Wow !!!!!
Without a doubt this has got to be the best pedal I have ever use for tonality adjustment, ever.
The X7 shapes and sculpts sound like an artist shapes and fine tunes a piece of marble or a carpenter shapes a piece of wood with fine grit sand paper.

It single handedly replaces a 7 band EQ,a compressor / sustain pedal,a chorus and a distortion pedal all for my Bass. It is a 12dB per octave unit, so the cut off rates for the EQ are very sharp and precise and the preamp aspect of it is fantastic.

I have a single P type pick up on my Fender P Bass and this pedal makes it sound incredible. I highly recommend this pedal for anyone looking to really improve and shape their tone.

Based on what I found and my research, I asked my sales rep Nick Grawcock to check it out and let me know what he thought and he recommended it as well and he was spot on, so if you're looking for this pedal, or anything else (I've bought an acoustic 4 string Takamine bass, my Fender P Bass,my wireless unit, this pedal and a new Fender Accoustasonic Guitar from him) He is an awesome hard working sales guy and is always willing to go the extra mile for his customers.
