Your Ticket to High-quality Miked-up Tones

Are you tired of dealing with mic bleed, cluttered stages, and inconsistent mic placement every time you want to capture your guitar amp? Turn that frown upside down — the Friedman MIC-NO-MO is here to make your life easier. Both onstage and in the studio, placing this passive guitar cabinet-emulated DI box between your amp and speaker cabinet makes attaining studio-quality miked cab tones a breeze. This handy device also includes essential features like a ground lift, selectable simulated mic placements, and -10dB and -30dB pads. The MIC-NO-MO is your ticket to high-quality miked-up tones — no microphone necessary.

NOTE: The Friedman MIC-NO-MO is not a load box. Always use it with an appropriate speaker cabinet.

Cabinet-emulated DI output

The MIC-NO-MO employs the same technology as Friedman’s Runt amplifiers, and it’s top-shelf all the way. Dave Friedman pored over this all-analog design to ensure that its tone stands up to the best digital cab sims and impulse responses on the market. With the MIC-NO-MO, you can send cranked-up tube amp tone direct to your recording device or the front-of-house sound engineer.

Tone-maximizing features

The Friedman MIC-NO-MO comes loaded with tone-maximizing features. Eliminate ground loop hum with the Ground switch. Choose between brighter center or darker edge simulated mic placements with the Axis switch. You also get a Level switch that enables you to select between a -10dB and -30dB pad to accommodate your other audio equipment. At Sweetwater, we’ve found that placing the MIC-NO-MO between your amp and speaker cabinet is an easy way to achieve top-shelf miked-up tone, both onstage and in the studio.

Fantastic Mic replacement for live use!
I bought this to avoid using a mic for a lot of live shows. On cramped stages you can get a lot of bleed through from other sources, making the sound guys job more difficult. You can also spend 20 minutes mucking about with mic placement. Doe it sound exactly like a mic'd cabinet - mostly, yes. It sounds like its close mic'd and extremely dry. Would a live mic sound better? sure, if you've got all the time in the world to mess around with mic position and you're positive you won't be getting bleed over. For rolling into a venue and needing to set up all your gear plus a PA in an hour... it SO much easier and worry free to just plug in the Mic No Mo - then just add a touch of reverb to that channel, and slightly massage the EQ and -POW- virtually indistinguishable. Once the whole band starts playing it WILL be indistinguishable.

or a simple passive box, this works exceptionally well.

As many have noted, be aware it works like a mic, and as a replacement for a mic. it is NOT a load box, and just like a mic its output is directly related to your amp's volume.

For live use it comes HIGHLY recommended!
Good enough for a professional studio, priced for the amateur.
Friedman doesn't really make crappy stuff. Like ever.

That said, I'll toss two mics on a guitar cab in the studio. But I always have this as a backup/third option when tracking guitars. Most often I'm blending this in somewhere. Sometimes it's even out in front of the mics.
Best purchase in a while! Just buy it!
Wish I would have bought one sooner. I wanted to go back to playing a real amp in a live situation instead of my Helix but just didn't want to have to worry about out mic placement and the inconsistencies of micing it differently or the mic getting bumped by someone etc. this still lets you hear the amp and send a balanced noise free signal to FOH. It also has very few options to fool around with (which I love). You basically plug it in and it sounds good! It's all analog and if I had to guess is based on a 4x10 with a SM57. Makes playing live with a real amp more worry free and easy. Dave knows what he's doing and he did a great job on this!
Mic-No-Mo
Does what it says, what goes into my DAW (no actual mic just the Mic No Mo) sounds very close to what I hear from the cabinet. Granted my monitors aren't 12" speakers like my cab is, but still...great tool to have for live sound without other stuff bleeding into your mic and the sound guy will appreciate the easy setup. Also great for recording as it can be blended with an actual mic on the cabinet.

Best DI Box for Guitar amps
I've been using Mic No Mo for a couple of years now and it's so easy to setup. It's also passive, so no power needed. Eliminates another mic onstage and sound guys love it. I bought this one as a backup since they can get banged around a bit. Price is right too, $ and you're set.
