Correct Audio and Timing — Even Inside Chords

Looking for a high-quality tool to help you massage notes to perfection? How would you like to have the ability to fix audio buried within chords? With Celemony’s Melodyne editor, you can do all that and more. You can access notes inside polyphonic material and make guitars, pianos, and other instruments shine. Melodyne editor contains such cutting-edge enhancements as Melodic and Percussive Pitched algorithms, musically weighted pitch analysis, the Fade Tool and Sibilant Tool, the Leveling Macro, and recallable search. Add to that ARA compatibility, and you get one of the most powerful pitch- and time-correction applications on the planet. Does that magical take have too many flaws to be a keeper? Not if you have Celemony Melodyne editor in your arsenal.

Exciting new features for better results in less time

Melodyne 5 editor has a lot of changes under the hood. Its Melodic algorithm edits pitched and noise-like components separately, supplying you with ultra-musical pitch deviation analysis. Chord Track and Chord Grid enable you to adapt notes — or full chords — with blazing speed to suit a song. Create note-based fades — even in polyphonic recordings — with the Fade Tool. You can also use the Sibilant Tool for per-note adjustment of the volume between pitched and unpitched vocal sounds, and the Leveling Macro to minimize volume disparities between notes. There’s an additional Percussive Pitched algorithm and other algorithm improvements, plus recallable search functions for keyboard shortcuts. Many of us here at Sweetwater use Melodyne, and this is the best version yet!

Extended timing tools give you intuitive access to robust note-morphing power

Celemony's Melodyne 5 editor gives you timing tools that massage the sound without losing your timing: the evolution within a note is now independent of its quantization. With the time handle tool, you can insert handles that, when dragged, accelerate or slow down the areas on either side of them. It all happens within the boundaries of a note, so you can do this without affecting the surrounding notes. Use the attack speed tool to increase or decrease the length of the attack phase or alter the transients of any instrument.

True scale and tuning voyage through truly diverse musical worlds

In Melodyne 5 editor, you can recognize in-tune notes because they lie directly on a white or black key. The background pattern of Melodyne's intuitive interface is that of a keyboard, because the piano's tempered scale defines the goal of pitch correction. As you edit, the keyboard determines the available notes. Turn snapping on, and the notes will even snap to the nearest key. And if you're working on, say, a sitar recording — with notes that fall between the notes of a piano — Melodyne has you covered by giving you a choice of scales that includes Asian, Indian, and Arabic scales, as well as western scales such as church modes and jazz-based scales. Change tonics, audition how switching from major to minor affects your music, and so much more.

Making your life easier with Direct Note Access

How does Melodyne 5 editor do the impossible? How does it actually get inside the chords? That's where Celemony's impressive DNA (Direct Note Access) comes in. DNA analyzes chords, splits them into their individual notes, and lets you work with the pitch of each of those notes. You won't believe how well this software works in real-world applications; no studio (large or small) should be without it. Melodyne also transposes notes, changes timing, and even changes formants, for perfect results every time.

A number of ways to integrate Melodyne

There are several ways to integrate Melodyne 5 editor into your workflow. It works standalone or as a plug-in in your DAW. Using Melodyne as a plug-in works flawlessly; however, you must first transfer each musical passage into Melodyne before any pitch- or time-correction can occur. This takes time. For complete DAW integration, you’ll want to use Melodyne’s ARA interface. With it, you can open and edit tracks directly in Melodyne. Check with your DAW’s manufacturer to find out if it’s ARA-compatible or call your Sweetwater Sales Engineer. More DAWs are jumping on the ARA bandwagon every day!

Insane
It's a really useful tool for tighten stuff up AND go nuts. Clients think it's hilarious
Music background: Melodyne user
Can,t live without it, desert island territory
I could not produce anything decent enough to publish without this tool. I am an older musician with moderate skills who loves to play and record in my project studio. My voice is pitchy and my instrument skills are decent but I'm not exactly a metronome. I make songs by myself and perform everything and I use this thing constantly. The biggest usage is fixing pitchy vocals and generating harmonies of myself when I can't go that high. This is one amazing software tool. Don't correct everything to the line it sounds robotic. I humanize most loops and don't correct to 0 deviation.A few cents here and there make for a more natural performance.
Great!
I'm still learning the program but so far I am very impressed.

I've worked with Antares Auto Tune for over 20 yrs. and it is still a great product but I think Melodyne 5 suits my needs better now.
Myron was very helpful in making my decision.

Thanks Myron.
The Best Pitch Correction and More
I've been blessed to have worked with some really talented vocalists in my career that never needed pitch correction, and if they did, we would catch it on playback and do another take. I've always believed that was the professional way to record. However, recently I've been recording some of my own songs, and unfortunately, my vocal chops are not quite on par with others I've worked with, mainly because I don't sing that often. So this provided the impetus to purchase the newly released Melodyne 5 which I had seen demonstrated in videos.

I have used other well-known pitch correction plugins and haven't been impressed with ease of use or end results, but I could tell from the start that Melodyne was on a whole other level. There was a little learning curve, but with the helpful online tutorials I was up-to-speed pretty quickly, doing pitch edits and even fixing phrasing issues. Wow, this software is great for doing everything from little tweaks to major overhauls.

The biggest benefit to having Melodyne in my arsenal is that when I record my vocals, I don't have to wear my voice out trying to get a perfect take. I just focus on getting the right emotion and energy, knowing that I can fix any of the little flaws later.
