Inventive 4.5-way design
In a typical 4-way speaker, subwoofers, woofers, midrange drivers, and tweeters operate within their own dedicated frequency bands, transitioning from one to the next at specified crossover frequencies. The MasterStack12's 4.5-way design is different. While all three of the MasterStack12's woofers produce sound at lower frequencies down to the point where the subwoofers take over, only two of its woofers reach the midrange crossover point. This not only achieves lower distortion through greater efficiency, but it also yields an exceptionally smooth transition from the highly directional upper frequencies to the extra-wide dispersion pattern created by the two woofers. Sweetwater engineers have found the MasterStack12 to be incredibly detailed with super-wide dispersion, and its stereo imaging rivals anything else we've heard. Studios that demand flawless sound will be hard-pressed to top the MasterStack12.
Powerful Hypex amplifier stages
Designed in collaboration with Bruno Putzeys of Hypex, the Barefoot Sound MasterStack12's amplifier stages were specially crafted for absolute transparency. This active speaker houses a groundbreaking DSP crossover that feeds four amplifier modules. This state-of-the-art design drives the speaker's subwoofers at 2,400 watts, its woofers at 500 watts, and its midrange drivers at 250 watts. The tweeter is driven at 250 watts.
Loaded with MEME technology
With the MasterStack12, you'll never need a secondary set of reference monitors. Barefoot Sound's MEME (Multi Emphasis Monitor Emulation) technology enables you to audition your mixes through spot-on models of common reference sources, such as standard consumer playback systems, vintage NS10s, and classic mix cubes.
