Same Tube-like Overdrive with Even More Tone-shaping Power

Darkglass's line of preamps and overdrive pedals are taking the bass world by storm. Their grind and friendly interfaces have placed them on many pedalboards of bass players around Sweetwater. Their popular B3K V2 keeps the same grind as the original design and adds the ability to restore the mid frequencies. Now you can send your bass rig into meltdown without losing any clarity. If you're looking to add grind to your tone while maintaining your tonal core, you can't go wrong with the Darkglass B3K V2.

Grunt, Mid Boost, and Blend

In addition to Level and Drive controls, the Darkglass Microtubes B3K V2 bass preamp pedal gives you two secret weapons. The Grunt switch lets you select the amount of low-frequency content to be saturated with two LF-boost levels before the clipping stage. And the V2 version of this popular pedal boasts a Mid Boost switch that adds a subtle 6dB boost to 300Hz, instantly bringing your bass's character to the forefront. And for instant onboard parallel processing, the Microtubes B3K V2 offers a Blend control that mixes the clean input and effected overdrive signals.

Darkglass Microtubes B3K V2 Bass Preamp Pedal Features:

  • The natural dynamics and organic compression of vintage tube amps and tape machines
  • Level control sets the volume of the overdrive signal
  • Drive control sets the amount of saturation in the overdrive signal
  • Blend controls bring your clean signal back in
  • Grunt switch lets you select the amount of LF content to be saturated
  • Mid boost button brings back frequencies that can be lost with other drive pedals
  • Power requirements: regulated 9-volt DC adapter with center-negative plug

Reviews

Trusted legend of bass overdrive
This is the one. The blend is just right. The mids cut right through no matter how you set it. It's a monster of an overdrive. A legend for good reason. Every bass player should have a B3k on their board.
Everythiing I thought it would be
I've been wanting this pedal for quite some time and finally pulled the trigger. While I haven't put it through all it's paces yet, when I got it out of the box and into my rig, I wasn't disappointed. Punchiness and grit and super tone with my Ibanez, LTD, and Schecter. I am really looking forward to stretching this out and seeing everything that it can do. My sales engineer Connor Bowdoin was excellent in assisting with this one and I appreciate that great service through him and Sweetwater.
Music background: Formerly a garage band hero, now a musical hobbyist
Popular for a reason
This just sounds good. It is always a smooth overdrive sound that at worst can be a little bright. But it's tamed easily with the tone and blend knobs. It's not exactly versatile as a pedal, but the tone it provides is immediately tasteful and works for a wide range of music, adding enough grit for rock and metal while allowing for just the slightest push to make the bass stand out for songs that demand it. Grunt adds a lot of bass while the mids are nice when pushed up. You'll almost always want both buttons in.
More than just the Nolly sound.
This thing is a metal bass tone generator. Not just the Nolly sound. It gives you a brutal and clear bass overdrive that will mold to whatever bass you are using rather than turning your bass magically into a dingwall. It cuts through the mix and it does so with authority. Yes it's a little pricey, yes there are cheap clones out there that sound close, but nothing sounds quite like the real deal.
From subtle to mean!
This little guy truley packs a punch! Practicing at lower volumes with the band, i couldn't really get a grasp on the dirt and going this thing delivers but after my first show using it at full volume I was head over heels.
Thank you Timothy VanSlyke!!
