Akai MPD218 USB Pad Controller

I bought this for 2 reasons I got a great pad controller that to me is easier to play drums on than my Midi Keyboard even though I'm a keyboard player. Also got 2 Drum Librarys Big Bang Cinematic and Big Bang Universal drums. They are Awesome Drum Librarys for this price.

Akai MPD218 drum pad

Great product. It takes a little bit of getting use to, but after a few hours of farting around with all the settings it is working out great. And it beats having to deal with a drummer and the space he takes up on stage.

Nice piece of equipment

Just received my MPD218 today. Fast shipping as always from Sweetwater. Jeff Bohan is the best. Took care of my order smooth as silk. I was ready to order a MPD18, but Jeff told me about this piece with all the updates and even better pads at the same price. I decided to wait until they had this model in stock. (Akai just released this model.) I got the email notification that it was in stock and ordered it the same day. It came packaged well, Opened it up and everything was in good order. Plugged it in and opened my previously purchased EZDrummer2 software and was able to start recording beats immediately. The pads are very responsive and with the note repeat feature you can get some nice fills and rolls. It has a full level button so that the pads trigger at the max volume regardless of how hard you hit the pad. (Midi value of 127.) So far I'm really happy with it. I'm downloading the software that is included as we speak, so I can't speak to how much I like that yet. I know from experience that Ableton Live 9 Lite is a nice piece of software. I also own a MAX25 by Akai and I love the quality of their products. I am giving the MPD218 a 4.5 star because I haven't been able to use all the features yet. For what I'm using if for, it is excellent. The only thing I'm not sure of at this point is if the note repeat function can be turned on and off or if the button has to be held down to make the function work. The MAX25 allows you to turn the function either on of off. At any rate, I recommend it and Sweetwater highly.

MPD218 Awesome!

This a very great product, but the software is hard to understand because the product is brand new. If Akai or Sweetwater could create some video tutorials on the product and its softwares this would definitely be 5 star review.
