All the Tremolo You Could Ask For

With the MXR M305 Tremolo effects pedal, you have access to the most iconic tremolo voicings ever created. A huge factor in the sound of any tremolo effect is the shape of its modulation waveform, and the M305 Tremolo offers waveshapes and tremolo modes based on classic tremolo circuits from '60s tube amplifiers, photocell circuits, and, of course, the acclaimed MXR M159 Stereo Tremolo effect. Tap into the psychedelic Harmonic tremolo mode for phaser-like modulation. Complete with a multiuse jack for tap tempo, expression control, envelope control, or stereo audio output, the MXR M305 Tremolo is fit to be your do-it-all tremolo effects solution.

Six tremolo modes, from subtle to psychedelic

Guitarists at Sweetwater know that the basic tremolo effect can take on many forms — that's why we're so excited about the MXR M305's multiple tremolo modes. Simply press down on the Gain control to cycle through them. Here's what they cover:

  • MXR: Re-creates the vibrant, rich pulsations of the classic M159 Stereo Tremolo
  • Bias: Based on the "lush, power-soaked compression" heard in '60s tube amplifiers with built-in tremolo circuits
  • Revo: Based on an optical tremolo waveform, reversed for more exaggerated peaks and dips
  • Opto: Based on photocell tremolo circuits found in vintage amps, with a lush, smooth character
  • SQR: Square-wave tremolo for choppy, pronounced tremolo
  • Harm: Based on the harmonic tremolo found in vintage amps, for trippy phase-like modulation

Multipurpose jack for advanced functionality

In addition to the In and Out jacks on the MXR M305 Tremolo, you'll also find a CTR jack with an adjacent toggle switch. With the switch set to Tap/Exp, you can connect a tap tempo switch or an expression pedal for additional control options. Or, set the toggle to Audio to convert the pedal to stereo output.

MXR M305 Tremolo Pedal Features:

  • Tremolo effects pedal with 6 distinct tremolo modes
  • Modes range from smooth and subtle to deep, choppy, and even phaser-like harmonic modulation
  • CTR jack for connecting a tap tempo switch or an expression pedal or for stereo audio output
  • Offers a wide range of tremolo effects in a single-space stompbox
  • Rugged metal chassis and surface-mounted pots for outstanding durability

Reviews

Feature-Packed Tremolo
This is not a 'boutique' pedal, but you won't find a better bang-for-the-buck tremolo out there! I've run this up against more expensive tremolo pedals, and the MXR blows them away. The only caveat might be if you're looking for a combination tremolo-reverb, since this is tremolo only.

The MXR Tremolo does just about every type of tremolo imaginable, including bias, optical, harmonic and a version of the company's own M159 Stereo Tremolo. You can run this pedal in stereo, but you'll have to use a TRS cable with a splitter.
MXR Tremolo
MXR makes quality pedals. I have 4 of their pedals on my pedalboard, dyna comp, uni-vibe, Carbon Copy Delay and this new Tremelo. All awesome and definitely love this Tremolo. A bit expensive, but we'll worth the cost for quality pedals.

Love my MXR Tremolo
I have several MXR pedals and find them to be of very good quality as far construction and sound quality. This pedal has quite a few options. Love my MXR
PERFECT - I LOVE IT
This trem is really sharp. The finish is gorgeous and the sound is perfect. Amazing versatility and adaptability. It gets the job done in spades. I especially like the square wave function as an alternative to a metronome.
