A Premium Acoustic-electric Guitar From Yamaha

When you need a guitar with exceptional tone and playability, check out the Yamaha LL6 acoustic-electric guitar. Part of Yamaha's legendary L Series, the LL6 uses a hand-selected solid Engelmann spruce top and rosewood back and sides to give you a rich, warm-sounding guitar with full-range response. The 5-ply mahogany/rosewood neck sports not only a smooth-playing rosewood fretboard, but also a new, slimmer neck shape and an enhanced fingerboard edge. A passive SRT Zero Impact pickup uses six separate elements to detect each string and give you authentic plugged-in tones. The updated Yamaha LL6 delivers killer tone and playability in a premium acoustic-electric guitar.

Innovative construction to build a better guitar

The great tone and smooth playability of the LL6 are due to Yamaha's never-ending search for perfection. The recently developed A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement) process gives your guitar a broken-in and aged tone. By controlling the atmospheric pressure, temperature, and humidity, the molecular properties of the wood are manipulated to mirror those of a guitar that has been played for years. Each L Series guitar also sports a modified non-scalloped bracing that enhances the guitar's low end. And the 5-ply mahogany/rosewood neck, after re-evaluation of string height and spacing, has a new design for improved playability. The Yamaha LL6 utilizes newly developed advances in guitar construction to bring you an amazingly playable and great-sounding instrument.

Hand-selected spruce top for great tone

Sweetwater knows that the choice of top wood can have a strong effect on the sound of an acoustic guitar. For the LL6, Yamaha chose a premium, hand-selected solid Engelmann spruce top. Chosen as much for its look as its tone, solid spruce has a well-rounded, articulate sound with excellent projection. Its rosewood back and sides provide exceptional bass and powerful projection. And because it's a solid wood top, the tone will age gracefully, with enhanced harmonics and greater tonal balance as the years go by.

A full-range passive pickup system

The passive SRT Zero Impact pickup was designed by Yamaha to deliver a faithful reproduction of the LL6's natural, dynamic sound. It was also designed to minimize the impact on the guitar's looks and tone. The passive design doesn't use a bulky preamp that's routed into the body to hamper the instrument's look or resonance. Each string has its own piezo element for a full-sounding and accurate sound. Because this is a passive pickup system, you'll need to use an external preamp when you want to plug in the Yamaha LL6.

Yamaha LL6 Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:

  • Innovative guitar design gives you an amazing-playing and sounding instrument
  • Hand-selected solid Engelmann spruce top and rosewood back and sides provide rich tone and projection
  • A.R.E. process molecularly ages the wood to match guitars that have been played for years
  • 5-ply mahogany/rosewood neck has been redesigned for today's guitar player
  • Updated non-scalloped bracing pattern delivers a fuller low end
  • Passive SRT Zero Impact pickup uses individual piezo elements for each string

Reviews

Just Buy it
Just received this guitar a couple days ago, I am totally blown away by the quality and craftsmanship, this is just my opinion but for under $ I don't think you could find a better acoustic , my only gripe is the cheap plastic nut and saddle , but to me that's not a big deal , I replaced the saddle with a bone saddle from Machichol guitars . Com.The width was perfect just had to take the height down a bit with sandpaper. The tuning keys feel very solid , I'm thrilled with this guitar plan on keeping this guitar for a long time . Just buy it you won't regret it , this thing a fairly loud projection and resonates very well , I don't have an acoustic amp put I did play it thru a Boss Katana MK 2 amp on the acoustic setting no squeal or feedback amazing. The neck is smooth as glass , frets are well polished, and the sunburst is so fine , and binding all over this guitar, just very pleasing to play and look at .

Great tone. Not as great plugged in.
I bought this guitar and the tone is excellent!! The spruce top and rosewood body really punches the lows and mid lows out. Great sounding guitar acoustically. However, the electronics in this model are not so great. It only has an inactive pickup so you will have to purchase an external pre-amp for this. I will be taking this one back and getting the Yamaha AC1R or the A1R with the built in pre-amp. In the end you are spending the same money and from my understanding, basically the same guitar with the built in per-amp.

Just a great guitar
Excellent fit and finish, great playability, amazing tone, beautiful looks. Just all around super happy with this guitar and Sweetwater made the experience great. I've have several acoustics over 30 years of playing and this is my new favorite. A touch mid-scooped as expected with the solid bracing, with solid lows and sparkly highs, still retaining enough mids to make it feel warm. The sound is really, really good with some decent punch. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the back/side rosewood laminate with the un-scalloped braces balance out for such a good tone. Can be super loud or delicately soft, whatever you want, however you play it. Action came in a little high with a bit more saddle height than I prefer, but I'll be fixing that soon with new nut, saddle and pins after I wear out these nice elixir strings a little first. The jumbo size isn't really noticeably bigger than a standard dreadnought (it's about 1 inch wider overall in the back) and the neck width and radius is perfect for my thick fingers.
Brings back memories
I heard the first Yamaha i ever have in a guitar class i took my senior year in high school. The sound from that guitar was unlike any I've ever heard. It was love at first sound lol. Mine was a kid size sunburst Epiphone i had since i was about 9. It sounded nothing like that. After i was married i recieved a yamaha on my birthday. Can't remember the modle but in the early 90's is was around 500 mark. It was natural gloss. My oldest daughter was about 1yrs or so and she's 31 now. I was teary eyed when i got it. I strummed that dude in memories started popping and my daughter started dancing. That is some of my best memories her trying to bring me my guitar to play so she could dance. My son took it over and has it now. I am 58 now and i was on sweetwater sight and saw the yamaha LL6 sunburst A.R.E. and instantly memories of my childhood Epiphone sunburst. I purchased it, received it in 3 days from sweetwater. Picked up that beautiful well built dude strummed it and tears started flowing along with the memories. It's like the old yamaha never left. The only thing that was missing was that little girl dancing in front of me. The playability is unreal and the sound is above all at this price range. I don't believe you can find a better guitar then this one at its price range. Taylor and Martin are very good guitars but there is an old new kid on the block. Yamaha has it going on. Thank you Toni, my sales engineer for all your help.

Wow. Just wow.
I received this guitar today and after a few songs I just could not stop smiling. This is a great guitar. I previously owned a 414ce and then a D18. The D18 was magical but had to sell as I needed funds. This LL6 however holds up its own. Great tone, playability and that fit and finish is amazing. This is highly recommended. Good job Yamaha.
