The Coveted Kerope’s Komeback

Representing a reimagining of Zildjian’s original Turkish K sound of decades passed, the Kerope series of cymbals brings old-world craftsmanship and deluxe tonality into the spotlight. The Kerope features extensive hammering, deep pin lathing, and a unique waxing process to achieve its coveted sound, exuding a warm, rich, and musically complex sonic texture that effortlessly emphasizes stick patterns and brush strokes alike. Timekeepers here at Sweetwater have found that its forward yet tamed attack blends seamlessly into live mixes, while simultaneously shining beautifully under studio mics. Each Kerope cymbal is thoroughly tested and precisely etched with the Kerope “K”; meanwhile, in the spirit of the original models, the cymbals also feature the signature of Craigie Zildjian inside the bell — a distinction that no other piece of Zildjian bronze can claim! This particular Kerope Medium Low ride cymbal boasts a lower profile and an increase in body, providing strength and deep definition with sublime responsiveness. The Kerope series represents a pinnacle of Zildjian's cymbal offerings, making it an exceptional choice for drummers who value versatility and unparalleled craftsmanship.

Cast bronze cymbals for premium tone and projection

Like all Zildjian cast bronze cymbals, each Kerope cymbal is individually poured and cast from raw molten metal. Each casting is cooled and sorted by weight for each cymbal model. Castings are then put through a complex sequence of heating, rolling, shaping, hammering, and lathing techniques unique to each cymbal range. The Kerope series possesses a rich, full-bodied sound that improves with age. These cymbals also have greater projection, clarity, and durability than any other cymbals. Finally, Zildjian cast cymbals are made from the company's secret alloy, comprising 80% copper, 20% tin, and traces of silver.

Zildjian Kerope Medium Low Ride Features:

  • A reimagined return of Zildjian's classic Turkish K cymbal line
  • Lower profile provides a deep, full-bodied sound with remarkable definition and response
  • Extensively hammered with deep pin lathing and proprietary wax coating in the style of old-world cymbal craftsmanship
  • Warm, rich, and musically complex tone with pronounced stick attack
  • Beautifully blends into live mixes and tracks flawlessly in the studio
  • Thoroughly tested and emblazoned with an etched "K" logo and the signature of Craigie Zildjian inside the bell

Reviews

Not just for jazz!
I have a full set of Zildjian Kerope cymbals, including a 22-inch ride, 14-inch hi-hats, and 18 and 19-inch crashes. They are truly unique sounding and they are not just for jazz! I use them for everything including surf, rockabilly, and blues. They may not cut through for a loud metal band, but that's not what I play anyway. They are washy but with distinction and a lot of character. They record really well and every drummer that has played on my cymbals has loved the sound. If you want to sound different from everyone else, check them out.

Ask any drummer at Sweetwater, and chances are, we'll tell you that Zildjian represents the gold - or rather bronze - standard in cymbal making. Seriously, Avedis Zildjian may have been trying to make gold, but he did even better when he formulated what's arguably the best cymbal material on the planet. We've played virtually every type of Zildjian cymbal out there, and you won't find anyone at Sweetwater who wouldn't happily recommend their instruments to you, plus their sticks and other accessories are also pretty sweet. Whether you're grabbing your first S or Planet Z pack or have saved up for the A or K series cymbals you've always wanted, Sweetwater is your source for all things Zildjian.
