Renowned Fender Quality in a Full-featured Squier J Bass

Start your low-end journey on the right track with the Squier Affinity Series Jazz Bass! Designed with accessibility, playability, and sonic versatility in mind, this J Bass has everything you need to deliver a room-rattling boom with clarity that cuts through mixes of all kinds. Its tonewood recipe combines poplar with maple for a full-bodied punch, made even better with a pair of highly versatile single-coil Jazz Bass pickups. And though it serves as the perfect first instrument for burgeoning bassists, gigging low-end warriors can tap this formidable 4-string as a rock-solid and reliable backup.

Boomy tonewood combo, effortlessly playable neck

Though priced for beginners and anyone looking for a wallet-friendly backup, Squier armed this bass with a full-bodied tone that sings in all applications. Sweetwater players will tell you that a bass guitar's woods make up the core of its tone — they are responsible for the thick, booming voice and long-lasting resonance. The Affinity Series Jazz Bass supplies you with both. It's constructed with poplar for the body and maple for the neck, offering a well-balanced sound, a snappy response, and a sharp attack. Plus, the "C"-shaped neck feels supremely comfortable in hands of all sizes and shapes, capped with silky-smooth laurel for effortless playing across all strings and frets.

Jazz bass single-coils for ultimate versatility

When honing your sound, it's crucial to have the right tools and electronics. Luckily, the Affinity Series Jazz Bass ticks both of these boxes with its warm, resonant woods and pair of ceramic single-coil Jazz Bass pickups. Capable of subtle to significant sound changes with the turn of a knob, Jazz Bass single-coils are a fantastic option when needing to cover a wealth of different genres and playing styles. Whether you're interested in funky bass licks or metallic low-end destruction, these impressive single-coils will deliver the goods.

Squier Affinity Series Jazz Bass Features:

  • Full-featured J Bass perfect for beginners and gigging musicians seeking a solid backup
  • Poplar body combines with a maple neck for a thick, full tone and snappy response
  • Supremely comfortable "C"-shaped neck capped with a fast-playing laurel fingerboard
  • A pair of ceramic single-coil Jazz Bass pickups cover a wide range of bass tones

Blissfull practice.

Spent the morning checking out a new arrival . My brand new Squire jazz bass . For the price I paid I was expecting a low class guitar . Was I ever wrong !This girl I named " Pinky Matilda" plays like a dream ! Looks great and sounds even better! I had the experts at Sweetwater set her up and put a set of flatwounds on her. They did a great job ! I will be using her on days I can't take my string bass out she duplicates the sound of a string bass very well. Thank you Sweetwater staff for a quick professional set up and delivery !

Decent Bass!

It's a really nice bass for the price, it is very pretty and sounds pretty good, the only thing is the fret buzz is pony great, I don't know if that's due to new bass and new strings, but I hope the more I play it the better it will get! Overall I think it's awesome and super awesome!

AMAZING. VALUE

OK, first things first. I'm not a bass player, I'm a guitar player, and I found myself in a situation where my beater bass wasn't cutting it. I looked at a ton of inexpensive options, and stumbled across this beauty. I love the burgundy mist finish. It's eye catching and classy.
I loved the idea of a jazz bass for the flexibility of it. The price point was perfect, so I ordered it.
The confirmation said I could expect it on Monday, but I know better with Sweetwater. It arrived two days early, packed impeccably.
I sat down with it and checked the setup. The neck relief is perfect, and the action was as good as it gets. Checking intonation, I found I had to slightly lengthen the E string to nail it. I doubt anyone would've noticed it was out, and I'm only mentioning it to be honest. Sweetwater does a great job setting up guitars. I've bought a few of them. They're the best.
Fit and finish are great, and I find the neck to be incredibly comfortable.
The neck has a very smooth satin finish which doesn't impede my hand at all.
Plugging it in, I immediately loved the tones. Setting my EQ flat, I went through various pickup volume settings, with the tone knob in various positions, and I'm impressed. I listened to a bunch of demos of higher priced jazz basses versus this model, and I know there's subtle differences, but I believe they'd be lost in a gigging situation, or even in recording situations.
Once again, I'm not a bass player. However, I've gone down the rabbit hole of gear acquisition, and have spent a bunch of cash for a slightly different squishy feel from another tubescreamer clone. Most of everything comes down to playing technique, if your basic gear has a good basic tone, is playable, and it plays in tune.
This bass does all of that, and more.
I can't believe this qualify of an instrument is available at this price point!
My first guitar was comparably priced, back in 1983. It looked like the strings were installed, and then the entire instrument was dipped in lacquer.
In this age of CNC machines and great quality control by the FMIC, I have an entry level priced gigging quality instrument.
Leo would be proud!

Perfect glamorous combination

In love with the sound and overall a great bass. I fell in love with her because of it color. Is the normal heavy, nothing to worry about. Highly recommended!

Awesome bargain!

I got this as a project bass to mod and because I love the burgandy mist finish. Once I plugged it in, I don't think I'm going to change anything! I've read so many reviews of people getting a flawed Squier instrument, but this was great right out of the box for me. Sweetwater did an awesome job with the setup and packaging that I had zero problems and it sounds like a monster! An Affinity shouldn't look and sound and play so good, but it does! Thanks Sweetwater!
