Decent Bass!

By Rachel on January 12, 2024 Music Background: In jazz band, marching band, show band, pep band, and symphonic band

It's a really nice bass for the price, it is very pretty and sounds pretty good, the only thing is the fret buzz is pony great, I don't know if that's due to new bass and new strings, but I hope the more I play it the better it will get! Overall I think it's awesome and super awesome!

AMAZING. VALUE

By Mark Sendra from Oswego, IL on October 24, 2023 Music Background: Part time musician, 40 years running

OK, first things first. I'm not a bass player, I'm a guitar player, and I found myself in a situation where my beater bass wasn't cutting it. I looked at a ton of inexpensive options, and stumbled across this beauty. I love the burgundy mist finish. It's eye catching and classy.
I loved the idea of a jazz bass for the flexibility of it. The price point was perfect, so I ordered it.
The confirmation said I could expect it on Monday, but I know better with Sweetwater. It arrived two days early, packed impeccably.
I sat down with it and checked the setup. The neck relief is perfect, and the action was as good as it gets. Checking intonation, I found I had to slightly lengthen the E string to nail it. I doubt anyone would've noticed it was out, and I'm only mentioning it to be honest. Sweetwater does a great job setting up guitars. I've bought a few of them. They're the best.
Fit and finish are great, and I find the neck to be incredibly comfortable.
The neck has a very smooth satin finish which doesn't impede my hand at all.
Plugging it in, I immediately loved the tones. Setting my EQ flat, I went through various pickup volume settings, with the tone knob in various positions, and I'm impressed. I listened to a bunch of demos of higher priced jazz basses versus this model, and I know there's subtle differences, but I believe they'd be lost in a gigging situation, or even in recording situations.
Once again, I'm not a bass player. However, I've gone down the rabbit hole of gear acquisition, and have spent a bunch of cash for a slightly different squishy feel from another tubescreamer clone. Most of everything comes down to playing technique, if your basic gear has a good basic tone, is playable, and it plays in tune.
This bass does all of that, and more.
I can't believe this qualify of an instrument is available at this price point!
My first guitar was comparably priced, back in 1983. It looked like the strings were installed, and then the entire instrument was dipped in lacquer.
In this age of CNC machines and great quality control by the FMIC, I have an entry level priced gigging quality instrument.
Leo would be proud!

Perfect glamorous combination

In love with the sound and overall a great bass. I fell in love with her because of it color. Is the normal heavy, nothing to worry about. Highly recommended!

Awesome bargain!

By Brad Walker from Hastings, NE on September 25, 2021 Music Background: Semi-Professional

I got this as a project bass to mod and because I love the burgandy mist finish. Once I plugged it in, I don't think I'm going to change anything! I've read so many reviews of people getting a flawed Squier instrument, but this was great right out of the box for me. Sweetwater did an awesome job with the setup and packaging that I had zero problems and it sounds like a monster! An Affinity shouldn't look and sound and play so good, but it does! Thanks Sweetwater!

Hard to beat

By Sweetwater Customer on May 7, 2022

Sounds like what you'd want a Jazz bass to sound like. The neck is comfortable and the finish is really nice.

Knocked off half a star because there's an odd cut in one of the horns. It's not a problem, but it is strange.

Great Value- Not So Great Setup

By Sweetwater Customer from California on January 12, 2022

This instrument is an exceptional value. I bought three Squier products before purchasing this Affinity Series Jazz Bass: a "Classic Vibe" 70's Precision Bass, a "Classic Vibe" 50's Telecaster, and an Affinity Series Stratocaster. All three are "Crafted in China," and all three were setup spot-on out of the box. Not so with this "Crafted in Indonesia" Jazz Bass. Setup was abysmal: the G string made contact with the neck pickup when played at the upper frets. Took it to a local guitar shop for a basic setup, and now it does indeed play like a dream. I was attracted to the Affinity line because of the satin finish on the neck, and this does not disappoint. The Squier Affinity Series Jazz is extremely comfortable to play; the pups sound surprisingly good for a bass in this price range. Indian Laurel fretboard looks very nice. Apart from having to pay for a setup, another superb Sweetwater shopping experience.

Blissfull practice.

Spent the morning checking out a new arrival . My brand new Squire jazz bass . For the price I paid I was expecting a low class guitar . Was I ever wrong !This girl I named " Pinky Matilda" plays like a dream ! Looks great and sounds even better! I had the experts at Sweetwater set her up and put a set of flatwounds on her. They did a great job ! I will be using her on days I can't take my string bass out she duplicates the sound of a string bass very well. Thank you Sweetwater staff for a quick professional set up and delivery !

Epic Bass!!!

By Hoyt Hendrix from Louisville, MS on October 25, 2023 Music Background: I have played guitar for five years and electric for three. I have also played bass for just over two years.

I've played bass for over two years and have played a handful of basses. The jazz bass has been the most comfortable play and has the best sound, in my opinion, with the two pickups. Sitting down or standing up, it seems to form to my body however I move or play.
