Classic Vibe '70s Jazz Bass

First introduced in 1960, the Jazz Bass has withstood the test of time to become one of the most played and recorded instruments in modern music history. As roundwound strings and brighter bass sounds became popular in the 1970s, a number of modifications were made to the J Bass to accommodate the changing tastes in music production; most notably, maple fingerboards and a back pickup moved closer to the bridge. The Squier Classic Vibe '70s Jazz Bass captures this funky vibe in an incredibly affordable instrument with the classic J Bass offset-waist body, fast-action neck, and dual single-coil pickups. Squier's Classic Vibe '70s J Bass is remarkably comfortable to play and lets you pull off extremely tight runs and grooves with ease. Of course, it also delivers the legendary punchy bass sound you can only get from a pair of Jazz Bass pickups.

Timeless single-coil bass sound

Although the versatile Classic Vibe '70s Jazz Bass sounds great in just about any context, it really shines on musical styles that rely on that classic scooped, growling bass sound. That being said, you can achieve a myriad of tones by blending the volume of both Fender Designed Alnico single-coil pickups to taste. Whether you play rock or country, funk or blues, or (naturally) jazz, the Classic Vibe '70s Jazz Bass will deliver the tone you need.

Shaped for comfort and performance

One of the things that made the J Bass an instant hit with working bass players was its unique offset-waist body shape. Perfect whether playing standing or seated, the classic Jazz Bass contoured body will make those marathon gigs and sessions much more comfortable. With its slim C-profile neck that's only 1.5" wide at the nut, this instrument was originally designed to appeal to jazz bassists. The slender neck not only facilitates the fluid execution of fast, complex bass lines; it's perfect for any musical style — which is why you hear the Jazz Bass in every genre of music.

Join the ranks of Jazz Bass players

Pick up the Squier Classic Vibe '70s Jazz Bass and you've got affordable entrée into the company of some of the greatest bass players of all time. World-renowned bassists such as Jaco Pastorius, Geddy Lee, Marcus Miller, Larry Graham, John Paul Jones, and Victor Bailey all chose the J Bass as their go-to axe. Sweetwater's advice: If you want the iconic round and punchy, growling J Bass sound along with effortless playability — and an amazing value, to boot — you're on the right page. Pick up the Squier Classic Vibe '70s Jazz Bass and drive your music with legendary tone.

Can't beat it!

Love it. Flats made it a total winner. Fast neck got mine on the DEMO list 8.2 lbs. Can't seem to find the imperfections, really. Got pure vintage 74 pups I'll update you afterwards. 2nd Classic Vibe and both worth more than I paid for em already. Randy Poteet never let's me down. My next one gets a setup.

Thank you so much Tomir and Sweetwater

My bass and amp came with in 2 days with free shipping.
Polite and respectful people work at Sweetwater.

The bass is gorgeous. So is the amp, if anyone wants to get an affordable , but incredible bass amp. It's the Fender rumble 15. Plays very well. And I'm very happy.
Merry Christmas to me!

Intermediate player, Love this bass!!

Originally a drummer but have played bass and guitar as well. Where I live currently I can not set up my drum kit and I have really wanted to play some music. I have always loved playing bass but never thoroughly learned. I have an Ibanez 5 string but have always wanted a jazz bass. I'm glad I went with this. It plays so well and feels great at a fraction of the fender american version. I highly recommend even if you are a very experienced player on a tight budget.

Very satisfying experience!

Having been an experienced bass player since the 80s. (Yes I'm old). I have always played fender products. I did start off with an Ibanez and moved on to a precision but after that was stolen, I bought me a new Fender Areodyne Jazz bass which i love and pkay to this day. A couple of years ago I bought me a Squier Jaguar Bass just to mess around with and I ended up loving it! The punchiness and the playability really makes it fun! But I debated for a long time to get this bass. I kept checking reviews, watching YouTube vids, just to make sure i was getting something worthy to be played. Squier has always had the "beginner" stigma attached to it so I was a little wary but all that careful research was a waste of time. Squier is an awesome, very usable brand! I was very impressed with the bass! I decided to order from Sweetwater because I heard reviews were the best regarding shipping and it was no lie. If you're familiar with the box that most guitars come in, imagine that but inside a bigger box to protect it! I'm serious, this thing was as big as a door and about 8 inches deep. After inspection, I was thoroughly satisfied with the finish and it came very setup and ready to play out of the box! It was even in tune. I did a very minimal set up and what's nice is they provide the tools for that. Sweetwater contacted me to make sure i was happy with product and that they were there to offer any assistance i may need. Who does that? Hey, stop debating and get your bass. You won't be disappointed.

Amazing Bass!

It's the world's best bass under $. It's basically ready to go right out of the box. I ended up putting flat wounds on it, to get that sort of Paul McCartney rickenbacker bass tone. Made adjustments to the pickup and string height, and a few other minor things. The bridge pickup knob was a bit loose when I got it, but was an easy fix. I love the thinner neck it has, and the big block inlays on the finger board. Great tone, great bass if you're looking for a starter. I ******* love this bass, and you should too.
Music background: Average bedroom guitarist.
