Measure 4 times - Drill once

You'll need to drill 4 holes the same size as the other 50+ holes DW has already drilled into your bass drum. Measure 4 times, drill once! Use some blue painter's tape to make your marks and to drill through. I just used a plain old average cheapo drill bit and went slow and steady from the outside and didn't experience any "break out" on the inside of the drum.
It's so nice having toms mounted to the kick again!

Great Double Tom Mount

The 2 Toms on a Roland VAD506 hang off the cymbal stands, 1 each. This makes the hardware/kit setup awkward. Too much congestion between cymbal stands and toms, and the feet of the Snare stand, double Bass pedals, etc.

By installing the DW Double Tom Mount one can use it to focus on positioning the Tom's, while the positioning of the other parts of the kit are now more independent!

Am so glad I paid for this upgrade!

As Heavy Duty As They Come...

Never been a fan of the new cymbal stand mounts for the rack toms. Although this is a small investment, getting the tom mounts back on the bass drum is where it's at for me. Initially there was concern about drilling into the bass drum however, this was easy and turned out great. I ran 2 pieces of tape on the inside edges of the left and right turrets (vertically) and centered the base of the tom holder between those 2 points and marked with 2 small pieces of tape. Then I ran 2 pieces of tape (horizontally) along the inside of the front and back turrets to figure out how much distance I needed to move the tom mount base toward the resonant head. I would highly recommend mounting the toms to the tom holders and base first, then with 2 people, position the unit on the bass drum of where you'd like this to be mounted on the bass drum, then make a mark. I had to position the tom mount base about 3 inches toward the resonant head to give me enough adjustment so the 'sliding' rack tom mount can either move forward or backwards based on drummer preference. This distance will vary based on the bass drum depth. Dry run first before drilling!!!!
Once position is determined, mark the 4 holes of the 'base' with a marker for drilling. I then took an awl and made an indentation in the center of my marks. From there, masking tape was placed over the 4 marks. The awl indentation will give you the reference point if you can't see your marks based on having a dark finish. Then, keeping your drill and bit as vertical as possible, drill it out. If you have a bubble level on the back of your drill, better yet.
Worked perfectly and I get the mounts that should be on every bass drum :) Excellent Product. Happy Hitting!

D.W. Double bass tom bass drum mount

This is the about 10th D.W. bass drum mount I have purchased as I am a custom acrylic drum maker annd usually only make virging bass drums and it is what i recomend for my customers . however there are times when my customers against my judgement want a actuall bass mounted tom holder and when they do the only one i will put on is the D.W. it has a large sread out foot print which will not crack the acrylic due to weight distribution and it is extremley sdjustable to fit the toms next to the snare and make it easy to play and it it strong and stylish the L- mount arms do not slip when playing hard rock, all in all the best Bass drum double tom mount i have found on the market and SWeetwater always gives me a great price , friendly customer support and a bag of candy to-boot!

Best Add-on for a VIP!

This new addition to my DW bass drum is amazing! This is the best addition for a visually impaired person because I love to have my toms mounted directly in front of me considering I am blind and would love to just have the joy of playing versus thinking about where my toms are on a cymbal stand. This was the best money I spent for this Drum set! Also, so that I did not damage the equipment, I had a local Percussion shop mount the new Tom rack and it only took them about 30 minutes to do so. So happy about my new purchase! Go get you one today!
