Dustie's Signature CE 24 with Mojotone Pickups and Floyd Rose Trem

Dustie Waring's (Between the Buried and Me) signature CE 24 adds pummeling crunch and pitch-perfect trem work to the familiar 24-fret PRS recipe. The secret tonal ingredient is a pair of DW Tomahawk pickups from Mojotone. These specially wound boutique humbuckers blend alnico and ceramic magnets for an exceptional balance of clarity, punch, and heat. A true Floyd Rose 1000 tremolo bridge, given extra clearance by way of a shifted-back 5-way selector, gives you complete freedom to bend and dive the night away. It's all made irresistible by the CE 24's breathtaking maple-capped mahogany body and legendary maple-on-maple touch response. Additional artist touches for the PRS Dustie Waring DW CE 24 Floyd include a DW-profile maple neck — based on a Pattern Thin profile but with a slimmer front-to-back feel — and a selection of exclusive finishes.

A guitar created for Between the Buried and Me's Dustie Waring

If you're looking for a PRS that's optimized for prog-metal, then you'll want to check out the DW CE 24 Floyd. Mojotone Dustie Waring (DW) Tomahawk humbuckers create hot, musically flexible textures with a clear and uncompressed tone. The guitarists here at Sweetwater have coaxed every sound imaginable out of these versatile pickups, from pristine cleans to heavy and crunchy. You can send your solos soaring or diving with the Floyd Rose tremolo. Beyond that, the cool satin finish and black hardware give you a smooth and sophisticated look.

"I’ve always thought CEs were really great guitars, and I couldn’t be happier with this signature model. It can get pretty much any sound you want it to, it’s super comfortable to play, and it’s just cool to see a CE with a maple board and a Floyd. I hope everyone loves it as much as I do." Dustie Waring (Between the Buried and Me)

Dustie Waring's modified Pattern Thin neck shape for blazing-fast fretwork

Waring's DW CE 24 Floyd's neck is built to rock. For starters, this guitar has a slightly modified Pattern Thin neck carve. It's perfect for fast players and lead guitar players. It's not too big, not too small. The DW CE 24 Floyd's maple fingerboard plays smooth and fast under your fingertips. And thanks to its iconic bird inlays, no one will mistake your axe for anything other than a PRS.

Solid mahogany topped with maple sounds amazing

To give the DW CE 24 Floyd a rich yet balanced sound, PRS began by choosing the tried-and-true combination of mahogany topped with maple. The Dustie Waring signature guitar's mahogany body gives you natural tonal warmth, which is offset perfectly by the brighter tone of its maple top. Together, these tonewoods give you an incredibly balanced sound. The set maple neck and 24-fret maple fretboard offer smooth playability and a full 2-octave range on every string.

PRS Dustie Waring DW CE 24 Floyd Solidbody Electric Guitar Features:

  • Signature CE 24 "Floyd" guitar for Between the Buried and Me's Dustie Waring
  • Rich-sounding mahogany body with figured maple top for extra clarity and surpassing beauty
  • Mojotone Dustie Waring (DW) Tomahawk humbuckers create hot, musically flexible textures
  • Modified Pattern Thin neck feels great in your hand and provides hours of playing comfort

It doesn’t get better, literally

PRS DW CE 24 "Floyd" — Black Top

First, I'm going to address the 2-star review. This is not a "dis" on that reviewer, truly! But I need to get something off my chest about these types of reviews: That reviewer bought this Floyd-equipped guitar (twice), and — because he didn't like floating vibrato bridges — then added a block to make the Floyd dive-only. Then he had problems with tuning. Lastly, he said the neck joint was "very weak" causing the tuning issues. He may believe his diagnosis. I am confident it is a misdiagnosis.

Why? I own six of these axes now. Six! After years of avoiding PRS guitars because (pretty sure the real reason was) I couldn't get past the bird inlays, I took a chance on one of these beauties. My first was the "Warring Burst". Then I bought five others!

Playing a DW CE 24 is like touching magic. They are the best-playing guitars I have ever owned. They play like butter; tuning is ultra-stable; their high-output pickups sound articulate and juicy; the 5-way selector provides such a wide range of tones; and the list goes on. This axe is so hot. A magic guitbox.

My PRS Black Top DW CE 24 w/Floyd is my favorite guitar, currently. I have over 40 guitars. I'm picky.

I've built guitars. I've repaired and modded guitars. I've finished guitars. I know my way around. The DW CE 24 neck joint is NOT weak. These guitars are rock-solid.

So, I get that somebody tried and liked the guitar, but didn't like floating vibrato bridges, "blocked" the Floyd, and wasn't satisfied with the result. But then claiming "a guitar this expensive shouldn't have this issue" does not make sense. What "issue"? That's like replacing the pickups then complaining that "it doesn't sound good now, but it should". His low review score was more about frustration (which I DO understand) and less about the instrument. He literally said "[b]oth guitars in perfect shape and played perfect out of the box"! It should have been a high-star review, plus info about his unsatisfactory experiment.

Sorry — end of rant!

Amazing

This is the nicest instrument I've ever owned. The finish is perfect and the feel is awesome. It arrives from PRS in standard tuning and the action is quite high, but after an adjustment and tuning to D it plays amazing and the intonation is perfect, I never have to adjust the tuning. I'm very impressed.

As always, Sweetwater was prompt and very professional with the order and shipping process.

First CE - Coming from Core CU24's I'm Impressed!

Picked one up recently and wasn't sure how it would compare to my core Custom 24 and I've got to say I couldn't be more pleased. It almost feels like a great "value" in comparison because it immediately felt familiar and played effortlessly like the Core 24's I've owned and played, but it has a little more snap and bite, which was exactly what I wanted and hoped for. It usually takes me time to warm up to new guitars but for whatever reason this one immediately gelled with me and felt right at home, which I believe says a lot. I do the opposite of the "honeymoon period" like a lot of people when they buy near gear, I tend to dislike it so I can only expect to enjoy this one even more as time goes on.

First PRS and it’s amazing

I'll be honest …I Never heard of "Dustie Waring" and my apologies to him and his fans , but the dude does he know what makes a great guitar , from headstock to strap button this thing is a close to perfect as any other guitar I've ever played or owned , this guitar is a very well constructed guitar ,unbelievable craftsmanship everything feels super solid , it did need a setup when I received it but that's to be expected, after that it's pure perfection super low action intonation is balls on , pick ups are great sounding for pretty much anything I throw at them , and she's sexy as all get out with the flat black finish and Beautiful maple fretboard , my only grip is the gig bag after spending a pretty penny on this guitar I think PRS should throw in a hardshell case along with any guitar manufactures that put prices on guitars of more than $1,500, I did buy a case for it to actually protect my investment from anything more than just dust , highly recommend this guitar to anyone of any playing style it's a beast
