The Catalyst CX Line's Portable 60-watt Powerhouse

Equipped with an extensive array of amplifier models derived from Line 6’s Helix ecosystem, the Catalyst CX 60 merges modern modeling excellence with the knob-per-function workflow of a traditional combo amplifier. The smallest and lightest of the Catalyst CX series, this 60-watt, 2-channel, 1 x 12-inch combo amp doubles the sonic potential of the original Catalyst series, equipped with a brilliant boost section and 12 superlative amplifier models that cover everything from modern high-gain fury to crisp, clear vintage-style cleans. Two effects sections allow you to simultaneously pair any of the Catalyst CX 60’s 24 effects together, and you also get an effects loop to seamlessly integrate your stompbox collection. Lastly, a built-in USB audio interface, adjustable output power, MIDI functionality, and XLR direct ensure that this classic combo is ready to serve as the centerpiece of your home recording rig. For the guitarist coveting a supremely versatile combo amp packed with studio-friendly features, Line 6's Catalyst CX series is sure to spark your playing, tone, and creativity.

A dozen Helix-derived amp models to choose from

The Catalyst CX series now comes equipped with a whopping 12 amplifier models to explore, with top-class sounds derived from Line 6’s Helix series. Whether you’re after gain-drenched crunch, sparkling cleans, or anything else in between, the Line 6 Catalyst CX is ready to deliver your dream tone. Further, a 3-band EQ, presence control, and built-in boost are onboard to fine-tune your sound. Lastly, this amp’s screen-less control section and knob-per-function controls offer the same straightforward and intuitive workflow as dialing in a traditional amplifier combo.

Equipped with 24 onboard effects

In addition to its 12 Helix-derived amplifier models, the Line 6 Catalyst CX series boasts an equally comprehensive effects section. A grand total of 24 effects are available to twist and tweak your tone to perfection, including rich reverbs, rhythmic delays, lush modulation, and all sorts of pitch-bending effects. What’s more, the Line 6 Catalyst CX series sports two independent effects sections, allowing you to pair two different effects for all manner of wild sonic experimentation.

The centerpiece of your next recording rig

From bedroom recording to woodshedding to simple jam sessions, the Line 6 Catalyst series’ extensive utility features make this amp a superb all-in-one sonic solution. The Catalyst series’ built-in 4-in/4-out USB audio interface capabilities make laying down song sketches and guitar tracks a breeze — no mics required! VERY COOL AMP!
I picked this up a couple of months ago and it's my first foray into modeling amp. This amp is seriously versatile and although it's a great plug and play pedal platform - which is how I e been using it until now- getting the Catalyst Edit app opens up really cool stuff. The amp voicings are great, lots of head-room on the cleans, really sweet edge of break-up on the "dynamic" channel and great response to guitar volume and attack; gain and high-gain channels are deeply satisfying and loads of fun with controlled feedback and sizzling pinch harmonics. Just a blast to play!

The one issue I had was the foot pedal which I found very limiting. On engaging the Catalyst Edit app I found I can program the footswitch to do a variety of different things, but still not what I wanted, which was to be able to switch banks on the fly AND be able to switch to manual mode as well. With Catalyst amps tha can only be done with MIDI. Being new to digital amps, and having zero experience with MIDI, I envisioned nightmare programming scenarios and had no idea even where to begin, and neither did my Sweetwater sales guy (who I'll keep nameless here because he's terrific and I don't want even the suggestion of shade on him).

Here's the good news: I found a YouTube video on how set up MIDI on the 60. The video recommended the M-VAVE CHOCOLATE PLUS MIDI controller which I got from a well-known on-line retailer (starts with "A") for $ and it works like a charm. No programming needed, just hooked it up and it was ready to go, all banks and presets lined up perfectly. So, if anyone else is trying to solve the same issue. I highly recommend this little device. It opens up the amp to all its potential, and it's is a GREAT amp! Can't wait to get the 200!

Bang for the buck!
Lots of features, sounds and effects. Plenty of power in a light weight package.

Best value amp out there
The Catalyst cx 60 sounds phenomenal to me. If you're playing jazz, country, pop, rock, you owe it to yourself to give it a shot. At this price it's an insane value.
For 7-string doom metal, just based on all the negative reviews online, look elsewhere. I don't play metal.
The Catalyst takes pedals great, the onboard effects sound really good, it's lightweight, and I love the looks.
Try speaker swapping too for a different flavor. I put a new Jensen C12N 8-ohm in it and it sounds really great.
This is probably the last amp I need to buy, I'm wanting for nothing. Line 6 knows what they're doing.

My favorite guitar amplifier
I have had my Line 6 Catalyst 60 for two years and it is a great amplifier. The amp is used in my studio for playing, practice and recording. I set it up the day I received it and have not changed the settings. It allows you to record in many different ways and I enjoyed experimenting to find what I liked best. What I enjoy most is the ability to turn on the amplifier and not change the controls to find "the right sound"!

Amazing Amp for the Price
Cab sounds are great and usable as is for many songs. Feature packed if you want to go down a rabbit hole. Or keep it simple and play with the knobs to get your sound dialed in. You can plug it into a PA or board with XLR output. Also plug a pedal in if you like. And the 60 watts is more than enough for most Bar & even outdoor gigs unless you're playing stadiums but just plug into the soundboard with an XLR. Great meaty sounds and crunch, distortion and clean vibes. Best amp for $ in my humble opinion.
